Ok some of you might know I just started a new job this week. I do not like it. Not only do I feel like I took 20 steps back in my career I just also do not see myself being happy there. I have always been lucky enough to look forward going to work and actually enjoy it. Now to me it's just going to work.

An ex co worker of mine just told me of two leads.

My questions are does it look really bad to a potential employer I'm already looking to jump ship? How do I respond to the inevitable question of why I'm leaving? My response would be I just don't feel it's a good fit for me.

Two: one of the firms I'm sending a résumé to; I know one of the project managers that work there. We used to work together one on one years ago and had a great working relationship. I feel like if I contact him he will think I only am because I'm applying where he's working. But I also feel like if I don't at least say hey I'm submitting a résumé it might be rude? Should I give him the courtesy of a email that I'm submitting a résumé?
