of course there are not two seats together for our flight to hawaii with DD on our lap. which two seats should i book for me and DH for the best chances of someone switching with us?
i don't think the two middles are good even though they are right behind each other because who would want to switch window or aisle for middle?! no one.

Looks like there's three in together in row 17 but I'm assuming those seats won't work?

How about a window and a middle? Then maybe someone would swap a window seat for a window seat or middle for middle and you can sit by your DH.

Maybe one window, one middle? I'm guessing the middle and aisle on a trip to Hawaii will probably be a couple so it'll be harder to ask someone to give up a middle seat. But someone might give up a window seat for another window seat?

Just pick two and ask them to switch things when you check in at the airport! But yeah, pick the two window seats.

@lemondrop: why a window with a kiddo? i ask because i always want aisle seats for myself, but this is the first flight with DD so i need the parent logic!

I'd pick the ones on 21 and ask the person in the middle on the other side to switch with you.
I'd also get to the airport early and ask the agent at checking if they can put you together. Often people get upgraded, so something might open up, or if there are two seats in the priority section, they might be nice and put you there without paying.

@birdofafeather: I like to be able to lean away from other people and always feel like I have a bit more space and forgiveness in bumping into others (especially during nap time when they seem to expand in size 
) if I have a wall on one side. Plus once my kiddo started walking I could block him off in the corner on the floor away from others.
Just my preferences, others may feel different!

Thanks for all the feedback! I went with one window and one middle in the hopes that one of those people would trade for the same type of seat or we can change at the gate! I'm sure I'll have a lot more flight questions soon!

@birdofafeather: not really. I had people switch seats for me on several flights so C could have her own seat. I've been asked to switch on flights so families could sit together and I've switched too.

Here's a thought/tip: If you can't get it changed before you get on the plane and you end up having to ask a person on the plane to switch--- have the person who is going to be doing the asking have the baby. I'd be much more likely to be willing to get up and move all my stuff if I knew the alternative was sitting next to a baby for the next x hours. (not the nicest thing ever to admit, but it's the truth lol)

I think people are more willing to switch to let a family sit together.
Windows are good with babies so that they can look out. DS loves looking out the window on the plane.
