@loveisstrange: rando question for you since you are as pro-Sawyer as me- I ran across the name Teagan. Thoughts? Like Teagan Rose maybe...Also, do you think Sawyer on. 30 year old is too little girly? My DH even mention that but I don't see it. We live in a city in SC that is the Preppy Capital of the World- like picture Lilly Pulitzer and JCrew designed a city based on their idea of perfect . Oh and it's beachside - picture sailboats and sunshine... And Sawyer would be a totally normal, preppy, Southern name to me? But of course, I'm assuming she'll always live here:)

I voted Blake but meant to vote Sawyer!
What about Taylor? Nickname Tay or Lo.

@Shutterbug: I don't think we'd use Rose, I do t think the 2 one-syllables sound right. I pointed that out and he was like "So what? No one uses a middle name. We'll figure that out later."

@Mrs. Champagne: He likes Taylor. But it's also kind of vanilla and plain to me?

@PrincessBaby: I have a cousin calked Teagan and love her name! Sounds good with your last name too!

@PrincessBaby: I like it! I think it may seem more plain because it's been around as a name longer. I don't know any baby Taylors though. Here it is compared to Harper.

Too many 'er's' with Harper & Sawyer. Like teagan and Blake too!

Do you like the name Skylar? It's not quite as gender neutral though.

@Mrs. Champagne: I guess it's more that I find it bland as opposed to worried about popularity? But thank you for taking the time to compare!!!

@PrincessBaby: i went to high school with a girl named Teagan. I think it's nice, but i like Sawyer better. I think Sawyer ages better than a lot of names that people name their kids these days, so i don't think it's that much of an issue. I think a good point to bring up is that when she's 30, the people around her are going to have similar names since that's what people like right now. The culture of names has changed and will continue to change.

I like Blake and Blakely because I think they go better with Rose as middle name. First name ending with R and middle name beginning with R is just a little cumbersome to me.

@PrincessBaby: I saw you liked masculine names (me too) have you considered Sutton, Emerson, or Ryan? I love all those for girl names too
Sutton is pretty similar to Sawyer (I actually have cousins with those names, both are boys, but I prefer them for girls!)

@LuLu Mom: So DH nixed those:). But I had put them on the list! Do you like Teagan/Tegan Rose? That's a new one that caught my eye today...

@swurlygurl: Our neighbors suggested that and I think it's cute but force ranked against Sawyer, I like Sawyer a lot better:)

@PrincessBaby: I like Teagan Rose a lot. And I think "Teag" is a cute nn

@PrincessBaby: I used to babysit a Teagan, he was the spawn of Satan so I have a very biased opinion of that name
I'm not a good one to ask! ha
Hmm okay some other gender neutral names:
Kyle, Kellan (I'm obsessed with this name and DH vetoed it), Elliott, Eastyn, Lennon (I actually know a sibling set of Harper and Lennon), Kendall.

@lawbee11: The only thing is I would be a little worried with Teagan that she'd get more "Wait- What is it?" When people asked her name. I know someone who named their kid Merritt, which I think is so pretty, but anytime they tell people her name the first thing they do is clarify what the name is bc their ears are not accustomed to it? Maybe overthinking here..

@LuLu Mom: oh Lennon is so cute. Nickname Len or Lenny! Love that.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@LuLu Mom: you're not going to believe it but we have talked about and nixed all of those at some point! Another one I liked in that same family is Lyndon.. DH nixed:(

@PrincessBaby: I don't think you'd have to worry about that. I've definitely heard the name before. It's not popular but I think it's common enough that people will recognize it. I looked at the social security website and it was #264 in 2013. Merritt wasn't even in the top 1000.

I updated the poll to include Teagan...I enabled multiple votes so if anyone changed their mind they can re-vote
Don't want to be annoying and start another name thread:)

@PrincessBaby: It will only let you vote if you haven't already voted

@lawbee11: oh waah:(. Should I start a new one or is that super annoying?

I like Teagan! I have an uncommon name and it doesn't bother me when people ask stuff like "where did your mom get that name." After they ask they typically say they like it.

@PrincessBaby: how do you pronounce Teagan? Like Reagan (Ray-gan, so, "Tay-gan") or like "Tee-gan" or some other way I'm not thinking of?
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@PrincessBaby: I voted Sawyer originally, but I like Teagan more. Love the middle name Rose (biased, it's Sadie's
) too. Teagan Rose is cute!
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@Shutterbug: I was thinking Tee- gan, but that is something to consider if the pronunciation is not immediately obvious to people. One of the only things that I don't 1000% love of about Sawyer is that some will pronounce is SAW and other will say SOY (I personally say the SOY), so difficulty in pronunciation is something I like feedback on:)

New poll with Sawyer vs Teagan:)

@PrincessBaby: I like it! I think I've seen it spelled Tegan before (just throwing that out there) but I've never met anyone with that name, either spelling. It's not a common name up here (New England) I don't think... maybe that's why I didn't know how to pronounce it? It seems like I'm the only one though
I'm off to vote on your other thread!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@PrincessBaby: I think most people are going to know that it's Tee-gan. It's not super popular, but it's common enough that most people know the pronunciation. And, FWIW, I have a super easy name, but people call me the wrong name all the dang time, so there's no way to fully prevent the mispronunciation!

@PrincessBaby: ahh. When I lived in the South- also preppy land (Augusta), I heard little girls named Sawyer, and they also pronounced it SAW-yer. I've actually never heard it pronounced Soy-yer. Interesting!!

@PrincessBaby: OH man I forgot Lynden that was on our short list for DD1. Husbands can ruin everything
I hope you get it narrowed down!
