So I have a few people that I've known who have had their second child before their first child's first birthday. If you do that in Canada do you still get the one year maternity leave for your second child? Which would mean you were away from the office for two years straight. I was randomly wondering about that this weekend.

I'm pretty sure you still get time off work, but you don't qualify for the EI benefit money unless you have been working for 6 months prior to delivery.

@prettylizy: That makes sense. I figured two years of paid leave wasn't likely.

^ what @Prettylizy said. You still get one-year off but no EI. (I did, however, hear that you have to work for 4 months to qualify, not 6...I could be wrong since I've only been told.)

You have to work 600 hours to be eligible for EI again. DH has been doing research on when to start for #2.
