The past two days I've noticed that when my LO (about 5 mos) is waking up, but probably still wanting to sleep, she is doing this repetative movement of rapidly rubbing from her head to her cheek with the back of her left hand. Probably just some weird self soothing thing, but its so specific and kind of jerky and the same each time that it has me worried....

Definitely sounds like self-soothing to me.
My LO sometimes pats her head and/or tugs at her hair when she is tired.

mine does the same thing and has for months:) An A&A security blanket helped him rub that instead

Sounds like a kind of self-soothing to me too! If she can all back asleep on her own, you're golden!

Babies do all sorts of weird things. Unless it is persistent and hurting her, I think you are ok.

@Mrs. Jacks: yeah...my husband came home and laughed at me a lot. But last week he kept licking her, convinced she is too salty and has CF.
