I have the worst luck with hair dryers but I love my CHI straightener. I use it daily! And I have lion hair too!!

No hair dryer advice, but I second the CHI flatiron- it does amazing things to my crazy hair. They are super pricey (to me at least) but you can find them for less at TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc.

No hairdryer advice either, but I have a GHD flat iron that I LOVE. I don't have curly hair, but it's thick and wiry, and the GHD works like magic!

I LOVE my GHD straightener. I have used it almost every day for 5+ years.. It's amazing!

@HLK208: that's a lot cheaper then mine was! I have waist long wavy hair and it straightens my hair in ~5 minutes and gives me full bouncy soft curls in ~10. It's my one must have beauty appliance.. I would choose it over everything.. Including my clarisonic!

Another vote for GHD. I have had mine since 2007 and it's still going strong. Worth every penny.

I'm going to dissent and say I'm not a fan of CHI straighteners. I feel like they leave my hair dry and straw-like. I think they're really overrated.
I, however, LOVE my Amika iron. It works great on my unruly, dry, coarse hair. It leaves it shiny and soft. I've done the test with my iron on one side and a CHI on the other and mine wins every time. They're kind of a smaller "indie" brand, but they're gaining popularity. I think Sephora carries them now.

I have wavy hair that is prone to frizz and love my Sedu straightener. My friend who has very curly hair swears by her GHD.

you've gotten lots of great straightener suggestions, but as far as a hair dryer, i looooove my remington! it's really affordable and works so much better than the conair and revlon ones i've had. one of my BFFs is a hair stylist and he'll blow my hair out at my house sometimes and he comments on how great it is for a non pro one. i've even dropped it in a bucket of water, we were having work down on our washer, there was a pail of water and it got knocked off the counter into the water- and it didn't die! i got mine at target, but they have it on amazon for <$30

Remington Frizz therapy straightener (got mine at ulta)
CHI blow dryer (Also at ulta- and they are often on sale for $99)
Both have changed my life. No joke. I used to spend over an hour blow drying and then straightening my wavy-sometimes-curly-hair. With the chi dryer I get a much smoother blowout in only about 10 minutes. I then use the straightener to tame down frizzies or any wavy parts - and my hair is done in less than 20 minutes usually.

I have a Sedu straightener and I love it! I've only had 2 in the past 9 years. The first one lasted 7 years!

So I think I'm going with GHD. Does the 1 inch vs. 2 inch make a big deal? I use to always use two inch until I bought the chi in 2005 but those kept dying so I've been using a babyliss pro for 5 year but I end up missing a lot of spots and I'm wondering if the two inch would help? Otherwise I like it.
For blow dryers, I need something really strong and powerful. I bought a CHI dryer 4 years ago and it didn't have enough heat or power. I've been using a conair pro but I don't love it.

I have Solano and Sedu blow dryers, and the Solano fried my hair so I ended up using only the Sedu even though it's a bit heavier. I don't know why I didn't just stick with that one in the first place! My hair always looks smooth and healthy now that I'm using it.

@HLK208: I would get the 1 inch. It gives you more options than just stick straight hair without adding kinks.

I have the GHD 1 in. It's amazing! I hated my CHI it left my hair dry and brittle.
