I think baby brother is going to gift our son a dollhouse when he is born. I've been looking at some online - Hape, Kidkraft (they have a pretty cool firehouse!), Calico Critters, and Plan Toys. I don't know how into it he will be, but I suspect very into it given how much he likes to play with them elsewhere.
Any recommendations?

I have the Hape one saved in my amazon cart but haven't purchased it so I can't speak to quality. We need more space for it before we buy. Good luck!

DS got the Kid Kraft fireman house when DD was born (he had just turned 3) and LOVED it. Oh my gosh. He still plays with it a lot at 5.5.

We have this Hape one, and it is great and gender neutral! And the roof has solar panels, but can flip for a winter scene too 
My kids love it!

We have the same Hape All Season dollhouse as @woodentulip. My 3 year old loves it. I think it's pretty gender neutral - one of our little guy friends loves playing with it when he visits. I did a ton of research before we got it. If you get the house that comes with furniture, it's a great price for the quality. Amazon and Wayfair have it right now for $124, which is as low as I've seen it after stalking dollhouses for about 6 months.

@winniebee: It only has 8 pieces, so it's pretty easy. The wood is solid, not particleboard, which is what makes it so great.
