My sporty sedan makes it super hard to get LO in and out of her carseat. In the market for a non-luxury, non-minivan, AWD, mom mobile. What do you recommend!

We bought a 2013 Ford Escape when my daughter was four months old (coming from a two-door car). I LOVE this thing—so many fantastic features that are awesome for a mom: foot-activated tailgate opener, remote start, backup video camera with sensors, etc. I love it and sing its praises all the time!

@Greentea: LOL.
I have nothing to add but will be following since we will be in the market in the next couple of years. But I'm still laughing at the idea of a mobile over a mom's bed.

@blackbird: also have a CRV and love it! My sister's is newer and has a back up camera and Bluetooth. I'm jealous!

Love love love my suburu outback. The newer ones are much roomier and it's just a great car.

Following! We're in the market for the same thing.
@JessKas: The outback is one of our top contenders. Glad to hear you love it!

I had a CRV and loved it! I want another one. Super reliable. I was sad when we couldnt bring it back to the states with us (it was UK spec).

Do you have a mechanic you trust? I would definitely ask him/her for a professional opinion on reliability and cost of repairs.

I have an outback and it is amazing! Esp if you live somewhere it snows!

We have a Toyota 4Runner (4wd) and an Audi All-Road (AWD) and love both. My husband traded in his sporty coupe for the Audi and loves the way it drives, so if you're looking for something that's kid-friendly but still sassy on the road, check it out!

@yoursilverlining: that seems like a similar height to my current sassy vehicle - dodge charger, which you'd think would be easier to use a convertible car seat with since it is really a huge car.

@JessKas: @owlmom: @matador84: DH drives a company car and he just got a new Outback--they're AWESOME!

I have never felt safer than I do driving a Subaru. I remember years ago when we got a massive dump of snow, the CAA (Canadian AAA) truck got stuck and I sailed by no problem. I remember reading once that Subarus are not sexy, fun cars, but they are amazing with handling and safety...and I totally agree! We our Forester!

@MrsH: I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and I love it! This is my first time owning a SUV, so it took a little getting used to, but the car handles really well, feels very sturdy and safe and has so many awesome features (remote start, back up camera + sensors, voice command, etc) There is plenty of space for my LO's convertible carseat and the trunk is huge as well. Not to mention, the car looks super aggressive from the front. I love the LED headlights

We have an outback and love it. We live in New England and it does great in the snowy weather.

@MrsH: DH has a Jeep Patriot. Apparently Jeep has had a problem with the clocks losing time in many of their models for years and they don't know how to fix it. I hate it.

@MrsH: we traded in my focus for a Ford edge and love it!

After a crazy amount of research I recently ordered a 2015 Outback to be my new mom-mobile, it'll come in sometime between late September and October so no personal experience yet (except for the awesome test drive). But the Subaru love on this thread makes me feel even more confident about the decision

When we get a second car, it's going to be an Outback.
Many of our friends have CRVs and love them.

We also have a CRV. We will likely trade in soon. We loved it for one kid , but with two it's getting cramped. Any time we have visitors now, they can't ride with us because of the car seats, and when we went to the beach for a week the thing was JAMMED with stuff.
I don't want a minivan so we will likely get something with an optional 3rd row.

I have a GMC Acadia, we are looking to trade it for something else, so I'm not really recommending it Just giving a look out for these, we've had a lot of technical issues with it, more than any of my other cars which were all Fords.

Right now a Nissan Versa Hatchback, which is fine for everyday. When we took it to Florida in April it was uncomfortably jammed full of stuff. I don't know if it will last through two kids (not pregnant), but I'm hoping our next car is a small SUV. I have major mini-van envy though.

Can Subaru owners (full sized, I have the Outback sport and I know it's too small) weigh in on how rf carseats fit? Currently expecting #2 and would love to stay in the Subaru family, but we just need more backseat space for Diono Radian RXT and infant seat.
