I have been looking for some blocks for DS. Do you have a type of blocks you really love? I like wooden toys, so bonus points if they're wooden.

Plan toys and hape make wooden blocks that look nice! I just told my mom that's what LO wants for the holidays...
We also have the uncle goose blocks, which are really cute but I don't know how good they'll be for actually building.

We have several sets of Melissa and Doug plain wooden blocks. They are really wonderful, and wonderfully simple.
My favorite "beginner" blocks are the Haba sticky bricks. They are expensive, but they are wonderful beginning blocks. Lorelei plays with ours everyday, and they look brand new still even though they were Ellie's first and have been well loved.

We are planning to get a plain set from Melissa and Doug, and then one or two of the special Grimm's blocks, like the fire or the rainbow

We have Uncle Goose and B. One Two Squeeze. Would love plain wooden (non-painted) blocks, but LO likes colors.

@grizz: We have the .B rubber blocks and wooden Uncle Goose. He hasn't cared much for either, actually, but the .B ones are preferred so far.
