I am thinking of getting some wooden alphabet blocks for my little girl (14 months) for Christmas. However, I don't know what I should look for. Obviously, a good size, good colors, and a decent price. What about paint on the wood, do I have to worry about it chipping if she chews on them? Is the quality of the wood different?

So far I looked into the Melissa and Doug set (around $15) but an Amazon review said they are smaller than other sets and I think most of their products are made in China now.

Any suggestions?
