What do you like? What don't you like? Do you still go to the grocery store? What items do you usually purchase on the delivery service? Does it save you money?
Pretty please and thank you.

We've used the delivery service associated with our local grocery store (Safeway.com). I still go to the grocery store fairly frequently since I've been using delivery when things get hectic instead of routinely. I like they the drivers are extraordinarily nice and the bring the groceries into your house (going on DH's feedback here since he's been the one to actually receive). The downside of that is that you have to be home to receive and the app is a little awkward still. It's hard to get same day delivery since your order had to be in by 8:30 am the last time I tried. I haven't done it enough to determine if it saves me money or not. Probably not because I'm not a big impulse purchaser. They charge for delivery but they also have a lot of free delivery deals so we haven't paid yet.
We're pretty paleo so most of the stuff we buy is meat and produce. They've done a decent job, the stuff is fresh and stored optimally until delivery (unlike CSA boxes and meal delivery boxes) but there's the feeling that you would have picked slightly differently or better for yourself. Convenience outweighs that for me when I choose to order.

I don't know where you live so my recc might not be at all useful
I use FreshDirect here in the metro NYC area. I've been a customer for nearly 10 years. I ️ Them. Legit true undying love
I typically shop a few places. I do a delivery every two weeks. I buy my staples from them (they have a competitively priced house line). I also buy some premade salads and meals, some dry goods and pantry staples if on sale, heavy stuff if I know I can't get out with another set of hands in the future. I don't buy butcher meat (not because it's not high quality, but rather it is really expensive). As far as produce. I buy stuff I need unless I need it to arrive ripe or I want to feel it (grapes, need ripe avocados or peaches).
I supplement at the local farmers market, once a month drives to Costco/Trader Joe's, and a quick shop or two at our local walkable grocers/delis/butchers/bakers when I'm out and about (I don't drive in town, I walk everywhere with our stroller).
Their customer service is top notch. One broken egg and they refund you the entire carton. Fruit not up to par, same story. It's an immediate refund on whatever isn't to your liking.

@Littlebit7: I miss Fresh Direct!!! We miss their delivery area by 5 miles and it kills me! I almost consider getting deliveries to where I work!
I use PeaPod, which is the delivery service for Stop and Shop. It's ok, but our only option. I think they sometimes give us the crappier produce, but luckily they are very liberal with reimbursing any dissatisfaction. Popular items or sale items usual go out of stock and therefore aren't delivered which is annoying too. Still, it's better than going food shopping in my free time or while dragging 2 kids along.

@Alba4: I joke with my husband I'll never move anywhere I can't get A) Thai delivery and/or B) freshdirect. I'm only half joking

@gotkimchi: I'm intrigued! Can you share the logistics?
@schubro- I forgot to add that I don't think I save any money, but it is all about convenience.

I've started using the Superstore's Click and Collect - you order online and then go pick it up. It saves me money, but only in the sense that I'm not randomly buying impulse items. I thought I missed grocery shopping, but then yesterday I went grocery shopping and it was a busy nightmare and now I'm 100% on the click and collect train. Things I don't like: I find it a bit difficult to find the exact thing I'm looking for (although they recently introduced an app where you can scan the bar codes, which is great), sometimes they're out of something so they either give substitutions or just don't give it to you, which throws off my meal planning and doesn't give me a chance to shuffle my plans and buy other things. Things I do like: before this I was either going during the Sunday afternoon nap period, which meant I got no downtime during the day, or going after work on Monday which meant I was rushed and frazzled. Now for $5 I can be in and out in 10 minutes.

@Alba4: sure I just use my work address - I work in a pharmacy so the delivery guys are all familiar and they just bring it right back. I work 12 hour shifts 5 on 5 off so just order on my days at work. Works out great

Yea- not sure that would work for me since I'm a teacher- no where to store the cold stuff!

I use Amazon Now, with delivery from Sprouts. Prices are good, but they don't do deli stuff. Also, some of the shoppers are clueless, so I try to watch what I order. Once I ordered "1 bunch leeks" and got only 1 leek, though it was massive. Since it's 2 hour delivery, I try to arrange it to arrive when DD is napping. I only use it when I am totally swamped or DD is sick.

Locally, I've used Peapod (associated with my Shop & Stop). I've also used Jet.com a few times. With Jet, you pay $5 one-time fee for fresh foods (refrigerated and freezer foods like OJ, frozen waffles, eggs). They were selling a dozen eggs for $0.99 for a few months. Not sure if it's still that low. Overall, prices for products were pretty good.
One of my eggs came broken and I reported it and they asked if I wanted a refund or a replacement. Customer service was great. I have noticed that shipping wise, that has gone a bit down hill. Like someone putting a case of canned dog food in the same box as a bag of chips (unprotected). I complained and got a refund. They told me to take a picture next time so they can relay this to the shipping dept.
I've tried Amazon Fresh once. Price is a bit inflated, I think compared to the other grocery services available to me.
Peapod (with Shop & Stop) has a pick up service. I drive to the store and call them when I'm parked and they bring it out to my car. It's only $3 to use. Only downside is you have to reserve your pickup day about 2 days in advance. Usually, I'm running out of milk and need it the next day, so I usually have to run in to the store for that.

I miss the ValuMarket delivery radius by probably 8 miles, so I use Kroger's ClickList (where I order online and then pick-up at my designated time). It's pretty sweet, I only use it when I am super swamped and can't get to the store.

I use Amazon fresh in NYC and it's actually a little cheaper then our grocery store. Doesn't have everything I want and I get most of our produce through a CSA or the fruit stand.

I've used FreshDirect and they're great. Prices are a little high but not unreasonable, they have a good selection, the produce is consistently nice, and they always have next-day delivery available. I've always got everything in my order, and generally, it was in great shape. The one time I had some sad produce, customer service fixed things for me. Wall me if you want a code for $50 off $100 for your first two orders.
I have also used Peapod and Amazon Fresh.
The selection and produce quality with Peapod were okay, but, in my area, the soonest available delivery was usually at least 4-5 days out. If they're out of something and they have a reasonable substitute, they will. Their interface also suggests alternatives/substitutes if they are out of stock at the time your order. The delivery boxes are huge, don't fold down, and they charge you if you don't return them (aka schedule another delivery) within a few weeks.
Amazon Fresh was pretty good but with a few big caveats. They typically have delivery availability in the next 2-3 days, their delivery totes fold down, they will pick them up, but, they don't charge you if you don't return them. They don't have a very stable selection -- I'd go to reorder things off a past list and half of them were no longer carried. They don't substitute if they are out of something, and they were out of at least one thing on pretty much every order I ever made with them. I also never got eggs that didn't have at least some broken. Which sounds bad, but, it meant that they refunded me the cost of the eggs and gave me an additional customer service credit every time.

I have to update that I am loving Instacart for groceries. Who can beat getting groceries the same day? With Jet, Amazon Fresh and Peapod, you have to wait 1-2 days. I’m a busy mom and can’t wait 2 days for milk to be delivered. I also, did get into a promo with the local grocery store for free grocery delivery through Instacart Express for a year. So any deliveries are free with a $35 min shopping cart. Even after my one year is up, i’ll most likely renew with Instacart Express.

We use Kroger/Fry's Clicklist app and pick up our order, though I THINK there is a delivery possibility...? not sure.
We switched over in October and we are die-hard converts.
What I like:
- View the flyer on the app
- Coupons can be loaded to my card within the app
- The products that match coupons can be added directly from the coupon description
- Coupons and the "sale" section can be listed in order of "relevance" (AKA have I bought the item before)
- It eliminates impulse buying
- It helps me stick to a weekly budget bc I can see the total of my cart before purchasing, then edit if need be
- I've had NO issue with produce or deli items
- They have a good substitution policy, if an item is unavailable (rare). However, DH and I are very specific in our desires so we click the "no substitutions" option, but even then, they usually try to find us a sub and don't even charge us.
What don't I like? Um nothing.
Do you still go to the grocery store? maybe like 1-2x a month, under $30 usually.
What items do you usually purchase on the delivery service? EVERYTHING. All food & toiletries.
Does it save you money? HECK YES. I've been able to trim my monthly spending from $650+ down to about $500, for a family of 3. We do a weekly order and then also about $100 from Amazon Subscribe & Save.
Your first 3 orders are no-fee, then after that each order is a $5 fee.
Every Wednesday the new sale prices come out and I create the order, on Saturday night I update it and place it, and on Sunday after church we pick it up.
