Anyone have a newborn with reflux? E is 3 1/2 weeks and in the last week has developed major fussiness that isnt fully helped by gripe water. She's pretty gassy (lots of farts and a few spit ups that clearly made her feel better) but I've noticed she seems especially fussy at night when laying in her PNP, but when input her in her swing if she won't calm down, she is pretty much better. We noticed today too that she was fussing/crying when DH held her laying down positions but when he sat her up she was fine. I figure this could be reflux? I'm calling the ped tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone ha any experience and if this sounds like it.

Sounds like reflux to me!
Gripe water didn't help us much, either.
My son slept in a Baby Bjorn Bouncer (inside his crib) until he was 8 months old. He napped in a swing until he was almost 9 months old. Sleeping at an angle made his reflux SO much better.
The reflux made him spit up all the time, and even at 12 months, he occasionally spits up after a big meal or playing too hard. But he's mostly outgrown the problem at this point.

It sounds like reflux to me too. My lo didn't lay flat until he was 6mo because of it and we still gets spit up often at 8mo.

Is she fussy all the time or in the evening? Our 5 week old does the same thing just in the evening do I'm interested to see what your Ped says!

Reflux can be (and is often) caused by tongue tie- please search tongue tie on here or read my previous posts about it. It's super common and causes so much stress, when it's a quick fix.

Yeah, sounds like reflux. D had it, too. We started him on Zantac around 5.5 weeks. He outgrew it around 6 months and we were able to stop the medication. Keep baby upright for 10-15 minutes after feeding, and take frequent burp breaks during feeds. And, of course, call your ped! Good luck! It's so sad.

Yep, ours started right away. She had to sleep in a rock-n-play because she needed to be elevated, the bassinet was flat and caused her discomfort. Medicine is key, itw ill help your baby digest and stay out of pain!

Sounds like reflux to me. Get thee a rock n' play.
I will say that medicine isn't always necessary. My doctor only prescibes meds if the baby is SUPER fussy or not gaining weight.

R had it. Around 3 weeks we started on medicine. I have another friend, who just started her 5 week old on it as well.
RnP helped so much. Keep LO upright after eating for 20 mins.

DS was like this from birth. Even the slightest bite off vertical made his reflux worse. We kept him upright as much as possible, which resulted in co-sleeping. We also baby wore him as often as we could. He was put on reflux meds which seemed to help in addition to the things above. I also eliminated foods from my jet that seemed to make things worse and for us nursing in the side lying position was the best and easiest way for us to nurse (he was a major back archer and had Sandifer's which resolved once the reflux was more under control).

Medicine and sleeping at an incline were essential for us. Most babies are able to wean from meds around 6 months, but we're still going strong at almost a year. He slept in the Rock n Play for about 4 months.
