Well here's hoping no one knows me IRL, but I am contemplating/leaning towards resigning to stay home at home after the birth of my next child. My employer offers short term disability so I would likely resign after the short term disability ended (6 or 8 weeks depending on type of delivery). I haven't expressed this to anyone at work, particularly my direct supervisor who is due 2 weeks after me, so I would be resigning while she's on maternity leave. So my question...is this a crappy thing to do? Should I be quitting before I have the baby? Or waiting to come back? I would obviously like to get paid for as long as possible, but I am having a lot of guilt over quitting with no warning. I am not a fan of where I work, but I have some great co-workers and I know I will be leaving them in a lurch.
