Are there lots of restaurants that deliver where you live?
This is probably one of the top 3 reasons why I miss living in NYC. Now that I'm in the suburbs, NOTHING delivers except Dominoes and Papa Johns. So sad

I don't know if it's a lot, but we do have quite a few. We usually just pick up though, because DH hates paying a delivery fee.

I live in NYC, so yes! It is one of my favorite things about living here.

NOPE! Only this Chinese/Japanese place and PizzA!

We live in Chicago and there are tons of restaurants that deliver. But I don't think we have EVER ordered delivery in the 3.5 yrs we've lived here... Don't want to pay delivery fees, haha!

Yeah I miss that about NYC too... So easy to order dinner... wide variety of places and they usually all deliver fast! No delivery fees either, unless you count tipping well. Using Seamless Web in NYC changed our lives... and waistlines
Living in the middle of LA now, I'm also surrounded by a lot of restos. Not as many deliver, but if they do, they take longer and usually have a higher order minimum. The variety is still pretty good, but not like in NYC.
ETA: @Mungbean, curious what are your other two reasons you miss NYC? For me, I'd have to say not having a car and Fresh Direct! ahh to be spoiled in the city...

@NYCaliMama: I agree with you on not having a car. It was so nice to not have to drive! I also loved having everything available at your fingertips.
Ahh, I'm really missing NYC now!

Sigh, no. We have a Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and a Pita Pit that will deliver.

@MungBean: This is absolutely one of my fears about leaving the city! In some ways, I realize that certain aspects of suburban living would be more convenient, but I love how CLOSE everything is here. Like, when I do my grocery shopping it's literally a one minute walk from my apartment. I would love more space (and a yard so no more taking the dog out multiple times a day), but man, I don't know if I'm ready!

I wouldn't know because dh refuses to get delivery. He'd rather pick up so we don't have to tip.
But I do know we have Jimmy johns, Chinese, and a couple more other than pizza.

Nope. Just pizza and ocassional Asian restaurant.
@artbee: I refuse delivery for the same reason even if hubby wants it delivered.

Yup, there is an independent service here that provide delivery to TONS of places. I think they serve about 30 restaurants, and then there's the usual suspects who provide their own delivery. It's an awesome service!

@Alivoo01: It can be pouring down rain with the roads flooding and he'll still go pick it up. I'd rather pay a couple of bucks and have somebody bring it to me

No...the only thing I can think of is Papa Johns. And even if we want takeout, it's Chinese or a chain restaurant like Bertuccis. I miss getting delivery from good, fun restaurants that didn't cost an arm and a leg!

Lots of pizza, Chinese, Jimmy John's...mmm. Otherwise we're 5 minutes from just about anything, which is convenient if you love all things fast food like I do...

@artbee: wow! I'm not sure if I'm THAT adamant about it. haha! If it's that bad, I would just make something super simple at home. If there's snow outside though, I'd still go get it. I'm odd. I know.

@meredithNYC: Yeah, there are definitely good points to living out in the 'burbs... my mortgage for my 4-bedroom house is less than half of what I was paying in NY for a 1-bedroom apt, but it's definitely a trade-off. There's really no variety in terms of restaurants (mostly chains) and everything closes by 9pm!! It definitely took some adjusting to get used to life out here.

@yoursilverlining: Wow, that's an awesome service! Wish we had that here!!

Nope, we have 1 chinese place that will deliver, and their food is so-so. We are just out of range for all the pizza places around us (we live litterally 4 blocks away from their delivery radius) We have even offered to pay extra for them to deliver to us. But they all refuse

We actually have a cool food delivery service similar to @YourSilverLining that goes to local restaurants and delivers food from there. There is a limited amount but they're adding new ones all the time.

I wish.. loved living in LA because of all the good food and delivery services! I can only order pizza around here in the suburbs!
