Not yet. Her ride on toys are so low, and slow, she's be more likely to hit her head walking. But we don't have a trike or bike or scooter yet.

I'm interested to know since we are getting a trike soon and I hadn't really thought about a helmet with it.

We don't for her little ride on toys that are low and inside the house. When she gets a balance bike/trike she will wear one.

Always for outdoor ones. I think teaching them early that a helmet is required is easier than introducing one later when they aren't used to it. That said, we have a bobby car that we only use inside and they don't use a helmet for it.

I actually just thought about this. We got him a trike and no, I wasn't planning on having him wear a helmet with it.

She has a trike with a handle that we push, and a 5pt harness. I bought a helmet, but even the infant size is massive on her. With the harness, I would have to purposefully flip the trike for her to fall off...and even then, we're going so slow she'd do more harm while running.

I agree that always for outdoor toys--I don't want to start a precedent that he has an option to wear a helmet. He only has a scooter right now but always wears a helmet outside.

Anything outside yes. Same as some PPs, I want her to be in the habit already

We only had an indoor one, but no. Sounds like a good idea for outdoor stuff although I always see kids at the park without them.

He wears his for his scooter, but not a ride on car or anything like that.

He's 2.5 and this spring we've made it mandatory for outdoor toys he could fall off - tricycle, scooter, etc. (Not his ride on stuff.) More to start getting him used to it than anything else. And we made a big deal about "big boy safety" and pointed out all the big kids we saw riding bikes with helmets. Now he's quick to run and get it if I forget since "It's big boy safety, Mommy!"

he doesn't wear one while riding the tricycle, but he does wear one when i take him out in the bike trailer. he'll also wear one when he rides on a balance bike (just bought it) and scooter.
