Did you wash the insert and pad before first use? We still have ours boxed up, but I'd like to be able to use it right away if needed.

No- I also always lined it with blankets so it was never washed in the time we used it.

I didn't, and also lined it with an A&A. But in retrospect, I kind of wish I had've? It comes off really easily and wouldn't be much trouble at all to wash, so why not? It would help get off some of those chemicals that are sure to be on/in the fabric from processing.

I did and washed it twice weekly after she started using it. She spent a lot of time in it!

M was born early but came home from the hospital right away, so it never occurred to me to wash it first. My mom and sister assembled it so we'd have somewhere for her to sleep when we brought her home.

I did. And then I washed it once every couple of weeks while she was sleeping in it. She slept in it every night so to me not washing it would be like going weeks and weeks without washing your sheets.

Nope! I do wash it once a month because my baby sweats a ton

I washed our before use and each time I did a load of baby laundry but hung it to dry. We also lined it with a blanket though.

I didn't, but I never even thought of that. If I had, I would have washed it.

I did! And, I washed it a few times while she was using it. I always lined it with a blanket, but she had a few pee leaks that went all the way through to the base. Sister pees like freakin' Niagara.
