My 12wo has been able to roll from back to side (and back) for a week or two. But he only rolls onto his right side. Does anyone know if it's developmentally normal for him to favor one side and not use the other one yet?

My LO rolled one way a few times pretty early (10w) and then stopped all together until she was 5 months old when she became a rolling machine and hasn't looked back since .
Id say 12 weeks is still pretty young and not to worry about it

I'm kind of super easy going about stuff like this... I want to say it's normal because from me and my friends experiences ... our LOs favored one side for a while. Eventually they got the other side going.
But I don't know when this happened! I want to say I don't think LO rolled by 12 weeks (he's a bit delayed but in normal range). So I think if anything your LO is ahead of the game!

Mine favored a side for a long time, I definitely wouldn't worry about it! If you're still concerned at the next ped check up you could ask to give peace of mind but it sounds really normal.

@ElbieKay: I know my lo favored one side too! Like @charm54's lo, mine also stopped rolling for awhile (although she rolled for awhile before she stopped) and then at 5.5 months suddenly started rolling EVERYWHERE. Since then she has never been content to sit still.

I don't think I'd be worried that young.
DS rolled around then a couple times but then didn't for a long time. He really didn't start rolling consistently until 9-10 months. Even now at 14 months when he rolls it is usually in one direction even though he can do it either way.

LO definitely favored 1 side for the first few weeks. She didn't start rolling consistently until 5.5 months and now she rolls all over.
