Our pug Pedro hasn't been doing too well recently and was told by the vet that the end is coming sooner rather than later for Pedro, as he is in alot of pain now. He has lived a wonderful life making it to 18 (We have had rescued him 5 years ago). I am so sad knowing that I need to make a decision about putting him down. I guess there isn't really a point of this post only that I am just soo sad. Prayers for Pedro would be greatly appreciated.

Aw nooo. I'm so sorry! I have no advice because I know our dog is getting to an age where this is weighing on our minds more often these days.

Wow! 18 is an amazingly long life for a dog! I'm sure he's lived a fulfilling life, and that he is very grateful that you adopted him and took care of him for the past 5 years. Letting go of a pet is always tough, especially when you need to make the hard decision to put them to sleep... Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll make the best possible choice for sweet Pedro. Sending prayers your way.

I'm so sorry! I've always had a soft spot for your Pedro (love your avatar!) because I have my own black pug. I can only hope my Angus will live to 18, that's a long wonderful life. Hugs to you, that is such a hard position to be in.

Awe, big hugs to you. We had to make a similar decision a few weeks ago when our 14 year old diabetic dog fell very ill. We had rescued him later in life as well (when he was 12). I was heartbroken about it (I still am, actually) but my husband kept reminding me what a lucky dog he was to have been given a second chance at life. In hindsight, I know we did the right thing by not making him suffer, but it was so so difficult. I know it's hard, but you'll know when the time has come and Pedro will be thankful for the amazing life you've given him.
So sorry that you have to go through this.
