I haven't had the opportunity for a career yet because I only just received my AA and just had my first baby..
But I wonder what it'd be like to work and kind of miss the extra $$. It's been really hard financially for us living on just my husband's income, but I know that with no degree and no experience I wouldn't make enough to justify childcare anyhow.
Do you SAHMs miss your working days too?

There are times I do and times I don't...
I miss the money, time to myself (while commuting even), feeling like I'm making a big contribution to our family.
On the other hand, I couldn't handle missing out on DS's firsts! I could not be happier when I get to cuddle with my little boy in the morning...I couldn't imagine someone else getting to experience that. I love that I don't necessarily have a schedule to stick to, I like that I get to go for walks/runs in the afternoon when I want to.
I just look at is as I have my whole life to work, but my children will only be this age once. I'd rather wait a few years until my kiddos are in school to focus on my career.

Sometimes, but usually no. The only time I really miss it is when I hear from my friends who I went to grad school with and they're so far along in their career, lisenced and board certified, speaking at conferences, doing all sorts of projects that will help lots of people, and I'm not even a little close to any of that. I worked for 6 months after I graduated..... which was so long ago!
But when I really think about it I know I'd rather be at home with my LO. Yes, it would be nice to have more money, but really I wouldn't make enough to cover childcare anyway. And my friends that have their career going don't have any kids. I do, and my LO is my first priority right now. When she gets older I'll worry about my career.

This is a very interesting post and I plan to watch it....We are planning to start to TTC after I get my degree, so I would be just starting out my career

@MrsBrewer: It's such a hard decision! If I'd had a career first, I don't know what I would have done/decided. I probably would have taken 12 weeks of leave (FMLA, you're legally allowed up to 12 weeks unpaid) but my LO just turned 12 weeks yesterday and I can't imagine leaving him right now! My heart would totally break.

@Coco Bee: Lol, nope! I barely made anything when I did work. It's one of those fields that you do because you love it, not because you want money.

Nope, not at all. I absolutely love, love, love being home with LO. I actually tried going back to work when she was 4 months old, and only lasted 2 months. I love that I'm with her every single moment.
