That sounds exhausting for both of you!

My DH usually leaves for work around 7:15 and is home around 6:45. However, he often has to work while he's at home. Luckily, he rarely has to go into the office on the weekends or travel for work.

Exhausting for both of you, for sure!!

I WAH, so I hope it's okay that I answer.

My partner leaves in the morning between 7:30 & 8. He gets up early to do dishes, wash diapers, and get ready. It's nice to have those two "chores" off of my list for the day.

He usually leaves work between 5:00-5:30, and he has a 30 minute bike commute., He's an architect, so if there's a big deadline, it's not unusual for him to stay until 9:00 or 10:00. Those days are really hard, because I usually don't know he'll be staying late until the last minute.

He very rarely (almost never) has to work weekends, and he never has to travel. Both are perks I really value.

He leaves around nine and is often home around four. He works from home a lot and on weekends too, but his schedule is really flexible which is awesome.

He leaves at 5:30 and is off at 2 pm. Home at 3ish. It is wonderful. However, at least twice a week he runs errands after work, or has appointments, or we both do. We walk to grocery shop and most shopping in general though, making it a more fun family activity.

@bao: That is a lot of time for you to be with the kids! DH works 1-2 days after work as well, and then like I said he has at least two appointments a week. I at least prefer him to be home every other night.

I work p/t, but he's out of the house by 6:45-7am, back home around 7pm, just long enough to see LO for about 5-20 minutes. Sucks. And he often has to work once he gets home and some weekends as well.

I'm spoiled because DH works from home. He has an office space set up downstairs and generally works about ten hours per day.

@Bao: that sounds tough!

I am technically a WAHM, but I consider myself a SAH mom, too, since I am home with the girls full time when my DH is at work. He works 11 hours most days. He leaves around 12:30 pm and comes home at 11:30 pm. One day a week he has an early shift, and leaves at 8 and is home around 6:30 or 7:00. Fridays and Saturdays are his days off, which is awesome. He is in upper management for a large retail chain so his hours are pretty much always going to suck!

DH works pretty long days, but it is a massive improvement on what he was doing in Australia so we don't complain! He leaves the house at 6:30 a.m. and gets home around 7:30 p.m. if there aren't any delays on the tube and overland trains. He doesn't work any weekends anymore either, so we're loving that!

Prior to moving to England seven months ago, he was leaving home at 2:15 a.m. and getting home at 4:30 p.m. SIX days per week, most of that time spent outside in the hot tropics of northern Australia. It was insanity and the main motivator that pushed us to finally leave Australia! We are loving his current hours

I'll be a SAHM, and am currently a housewife. DH's schedule depends on what stage his current project is in. The hours start out normal, 40 hours a week, but as they get closer to rollout they start doing more. He usually goes to 10 hour days for a while, and then at the end might have a month or so of 60+ hour weeks. After rollout there's usually a week or two of longer hours, then it drops back to 40/week. If we're lucky, he gets put on production support and he has 40 hour weeks for a good long time. If we're not, we get moved and it starts over with a new project. Typically a project lasts 1-2 years, to put that all on a timeframe.

In bad cases, like the current project, the weeks get to 70+ months before rollout. He's currently doing 90 hour weeks, though hopefully this will be the last. If he gets put on another project like this one (mismanaged and understaffed) once LO is here, I'll go bonkers. Thankfully he gets paid for overtime, so at least this is great getting extra money before LO, but he is SO worn out.

As far as time, he likes to be there early and leave as soon as he can, which is usually 5. We live around 15 minutes from his work in good traffic. But who knows where we might live once we get moved again.

5ish to 5 M-F and 5-11 on Saturdays which I hate! And now he is taking a class so M&W he doesn't get home until 9. Thankfully I work (sorry, I know you asked SAHM's!) because I don't know if I could do it as a SAHM. You ladies are my heroes....

It is crazy how such long hours can be the norm, it looks like a lot of you have spouses with very long hours!

My husband usually leaves between 7&8 depending on if lo is awake (he will play with her for a bit if he can) and gets home between 7 and 8. One of those nights he does leave work "early" to play racquetball. Frequently he does another hour after getting home and four hours most weekends. It can be overwhelming but he does his best to use his time wisely to spend the most time he can with us as a family.

DH leaves around 7:15/7:30 and gets home at 6. It's not that bad, but my friends' husbands are around more so I'm jealous!

DH is gone 8-5, sometimes he leaves earlier for meetings, M-F. He can also work from home any day he wants. Occasionally he travels for work, depending on his projects. He's entirely remote, so this is the schedule he selected because it's easiest to communicate with his clients. He's a project manager, and a few other hats, for a company that designs and builds apps.

DH is gone from 6:45am-4:45pm Monday-Thursday, and then 6:45am-3:45pm on Fridays and he gets every other Friday off. I love his schedule and am so thankful. I feel for some of you SAH and having to do so while your partner works such long hours! That would be tough.

DH is gone from 6am-8pm, 5/6 days a week. Sometimes it's day shift, sometimes night shift (so he'll leave at 6pm and get home at 8am). His schedule should be 4 days on and 4 days off but he usually gets called in once or twice a week.

It's hard but we've gotten use to it. The kids miss him often though. I try to make the best of it though. I think of how hard it must be on military families when I feel down about DH's schedule.

He is usually gone 630-630 on a good day but depending on his surgery days he misses bed time usually 2x a week. If he is on call during the week he sometimes comes home but goes back into work. When he is on call on weekends it's very unpredictable. He is usually gone half the day sometimes all day and sometimes all night. That's typically every other weekend. He works a lot.

He works four 10's so it varies, but usually 6am to 4ish. He's always home on my work day to take the boys and does most of the bedtimes since I have a few nights tutoring and night classes. He usually works half the weekend and we try to coordinate another weekday off together for a family day.

Most of the time I love his schedule, but lately we've both had extra shifts, so I haven't seen him much.
