I want a pair of comfortable sandals for this summer of solo parenting and staying at home. Do you have a preference? A different favorite?

I've had birks for many years. Wore them through 2 pregnancies. They've always been super comfy for me even with all day wear. I've never owned saltwaters - tried them on in a store once and they didn't look as good as they do on my daughter. I also like that birks are slip ons which means I'll wear them more often than not.

I've had both. I had my Gizehs for literally 10 years and finally donated them last year. They still had some life in them, but the cork was finally cracking and I was just tired of them! They are extremely comfortable but I always felt like they were bulky and kind of ugly, like cute ugly, I guess.
I bought silver Saltwaters for the first time last year. They have practically no support but I love the way they look and I feel like they are easy to dress up or down. I walk everywhere and don't find them uncomfortable, but they are no match for birk-level comfort. That said, I bought a second pair of red ones this year and I them.

@knittylady: I have those birks and I love love love them! You will not regret it!!! I wore them all around Belgium last summer and they are in perfect condition still.

I've don't have either, but I'm also hunting for some comfy sandals. I was shopping for a pair of Mayaris last week and was surprised by how hard they were! I had a beloved pair of Birkenstocks back in Jr. HS- they were so comfy. I'm guessing it's the new non-leather materials? However, I tried on a pair of Arizonas with a soft-footbed and kind of fell in love. If they only had the right color in stock!

I love gizehs! Been wearing them for years, and have always found them comfortable, even when doing a lot of walking. I have not owned saltwaters, but just looking at them, they don't seem like they would have quite as much support. The soles look pretty flat. I have high arches, so I like the support of the birks!

I don't love the look of Birks and think Saltwaters look a little bit like they're for kids, though cute. I LOVE my Swedish Hasbeen low sandals. So comfortable and adorable.

@erinpye: what's the actual style of the ones you have?

@winniebee: I have the papillon, low heel in red! I'm trying to stop myself from ordering another low pair in the nature color too... They're so very comfortable-- I have a Morton's Neuroma from years of dance, and pretty much every shoe hurts my toe at some point, but not these so far!

I've had the birks before, but I gotta say neither the gizehs nor the saltwaters look all that great on my size 10 feet.
@erinpye: love my hasbeens too I also have a pair of lotta from stockholm sandals and I think they are even more comfy - the leather is so much softer.

@FannyMae: good to know- I'm a 9.5.
I'm gonna check out these Swedish sandals! FIL came over from Sweden as a preteen so it would be fitting.

@erinpye: honestly, go for it!! the service was top notch, the are UK based and ship worldwide. they have quite a few other swedish clogs, and the prices are fantastic (half the price of hasbeens in $AU) I bought the highwood clogs (closed front with a strap) and the leather was butter soft and needed no wearing in.

I have both. I gravitate towards the Gizeh Birks most of the time. There is more arch support and honestly because I just slip them on/off without a thought or effort. They weren't that comfortable to me in the beginning, but became more and more so. The salt waters are cuter with simple dresses though!

Someone post a picture of these cute Birkenstocks and inspire me to make a purchase. The stock photos don't do them justice.

@rachiecakes: I tried the gizehs on and .. not cute! I didn't find them comfy either. I ended up returning the ones I bought because I couldn't handle the ug-factor
Got a pair of fryes instead!

@rachiecakes: I got these!
Not as supportive and comfy as the Birkenstocks but still comfy!

I have size 9.5 feet and like the way my saltwater sandals look. There is no support, but they are great in the rain! Something I find really importance in nyc summers.
I think I am going to get a pair of Birkenstocks this summer. I need slip ons.

I just bought the Gizehs and agree with @Lamarineire that they are ugly cute, lol. The comfy factor won out for me though! My no support Reef wearing feet felt like they had died and gone to heaven from the comfort and support of the birks.
I just cant get on board with saltwaters for adults.

I have both and wear them equally in the summer. My daughter has the same pair of Saltwaters and we like to match (while she still wants to, I'm going for it!). I think they serve different purposes, but I agree that gizehs are easier as they slip on. I also nominate Lottas- wearing some right now, and they are super comfy! I save them for work/when I want to feel more dressed up.
