If you had very similar pregnancies for multiple LOs, did you have the same sex LO? Just curious
ETA or of course, different pregnancies, same sex...or any combination!

@Weagle: Ah yes! Should have phrased the question to include that option as well, of course

My friend I was with this weekend is 22 weeks with her second and her pregnancy is going exactly the same for her. She has a 2 year old girl and is pregnant with a boy!

@hilsy85: Congratulations!!!! When are you due?
I have talked to several friends with 2 kids and there was no method to the madness for them. My very good friend with 2 boys, very close in age, was convinced her 2nd was a girl bc she was so sick and felt so miserable. She had just had a very easy pregnancy with #1... They were team green and she got the shock of her life when #2 was also a boy.
I kind of wonder if genetics has anything to do with it? My mom never got sick with any of us (2 girls, 1 boy). I have had vague nausea with both my pregnancies and food aversions but I have never been sick consistently. I think I threw up once with H when I brushed my teeth and that was only gagging really.

@Smurfette: thank you!
@PrincessBaby: thanks! I'm due 6/9 Yeah I know you're probably right, but can't help but wonder...I'm still SO early, so plenty of time for more symptoms to kick in but so far it's very similar to LO1 in that I have NO symptoms, lol. Just makes me wonder!

I am pregnant with boy #2 and my pregnancies have been extremely similar with the exception of a few more food aversions this time around. Congratulations!

@hilsy85: my second pregnancy is way different than my first. When I find out gender in 3 weeks I'll report back. My gut instinct is opposite gender but not really because of symptoms. Just a random feeling.

Congrats!!!!
My first trimesters were different - more nausea this time for sure and just overall felt worse. Also didn't get all over sore boobs until 8 or so weeks this time and last time happened right away. At the beginning I thought for sure it was a girl. Having another boy though! After the first tri things have been the same though including exact same weight gain at the same times. I'm maybe a little more tired overall but that might just be being 3 years older and chasing a toddler.
Eta - baby's hr was higher than Ts up until 18 wks. In fact at 12 wks my doc said if he had to venture a guess he would say girl. Wrong!!!!

@hilsy85: Have you read about the Ramzi method? At your first U/S, get the tech to tell you what side your placenta is forming. It's pretty accurate if you get the tech to look at things transversely. It orients direction and they can tell you where the placenta is forming. Right is more than likely boy, and left is usually girl. It's about 96% correct in the study of over 5000 babies, so they still got 200 wrong where the theory didn't apply, but it's another thing to ponder that at least has some science behind it! My placenta is on my right, but my pregnancy has been pretty similar, and baby's HR is high (H's was always high!)...So I'm thinking more boy than girl, but I won't be shocked if it's a girl:)

@winniebee: ha tell me about it! I asked DH if I was this tired last time--I think it was just that sitting at a desk was easier than running after a toddler!
@cmomma17: thanks!
@yellowbird: ooh can't wait to hear! So exciting!
@PrincessBaby: so your 8 week u/s? My OB usually does that one I think, and she might laugh at me if I tell her about this method does it work if they do it transvaginally?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@hilsy85: for sure! I think staying home you also have more time to fixate on how bad you feel. I found that down time at home in the first trimester (esp mornings) was just awful. I just wanted to lay on the floor and sleep while T played. Getting out of the house was a must.

@winniebee: yes! totally agree---when I'm just sitting on the couch it's so easy to just turn on another ep of Daniel Tiger and close my eyes...

@hilsy85: Yes! Transverse is transverse. It doesn't matter if it's abdominally or TV. Just tell her to humor you and see if she can tell you what side your placenta is forming on. If you don't feel comfortable asking her to take a transverse image, then don't, but just ask if she can tell you what side the placenta is on and maybe vaguely touch on the theory. My OB says that all of the theories are correct 50% of the time, so she didn't put much stock in it. But I was really interested in it, and I got the u/s tech that did one on me last week to tell me. I didn't ask my OB to look though.

@PrincessBaby: ah ok! I will try to ask her I am also afraid to get my hopes up either way though, and then have it be wrong! At least she does anatomy scans early, at 16 weeks, so I won't have long to wait.

More differences than similarities and both boys!
Second pregnancy was 100 times easier and some different symptoms.

@hilsy85: Funny, I was wondering about this today too. I am a little less sick this time (so far), but probably doesn't mean anything!
My sister was WAY less sick with her second, but both were boys.

I had the same symptoms and I have one of each!
Congrats, btw!!

Very different pregnancies. I was VERY sick this pregnancy and it's a girl. I had no nausea with my first pregnancy and it was a boy. All the old wives stories were true for me.

@BandDmommy: ah interesting...OWT were pretty true for me with LO1 (boy), so we shall see...

This pregnancy has been very similar to my last (especially in the first tri) and we are have the opposite sex.
Congrats!

I'm having another girl but the symptoms this time around are way more intense. Morning sickness lasted a lot longer, boobs hurt a lot more, everything is more swollen, I had major fatigue in the first trimester and I didn't have any with #1. I wouldn't say the pregnancies are night and day but they are different and its the same sex.

Very different pregnancies, both girls. I really thought a boy this time around since they were so different.

So far I've got 3 girls and all 3 pregnancies have been soooo different!

Congrats!! I agree with @winniebee in that I'd dread leaving the house but ALWAYS was glad for the distraction once I did. I thought I was having no symptoms but it ended up that I was just less pregnant than I thought and nausea swiftly kicked in when I was really 6 weeks (instead of when I thought I was 6 weeks.. and was barely 4). Everything else has been the same but worse so far - I'm 18 weeks and about to bust out the maternity support belt and get winded/ribs popping. A little terrified for the end. Team green though so can't comment on that aspect!
