We got all dressed up for pictures with the mall Santa today, waited in line for 45 minutes, and the LO started bawling when we tried to sit her on Santa so we just left.
So that the trip wasn't a complete waste, I treated myself to a sweater.
We'll have to try again next weekend and I'll have to bring something Santa can give her as a bribe.
Has anybody taken their Santa pics?

I don't have any little ones yet, but my aunt has a 6 y/o with PDD-NOS and every year he dislikes santa (doesn't fit, but not happy!). my aunt kept trying..and this year, the picture was hysterical - for whatever reason, he belly laughed as soon as Santa talked to him. no idea what changed though!
maybe if you acted super excited to see Santa (I'm sure you did lol) and sat with him too?

Not yet this year. 2 years ago though, I was actually able to get DS to sit on Santa's lap, but he kept giving him looks like he was going to kill him!
I still can't get him near the Easter Bunny...

Oh no! We're Jewish so we don't do Santa. But if we did there would be no way, my lo scares very easily. Strangers sticking their head in her face to say hi make her scream.

LO doesn't really care for santa. He was also not to keen on the Disney characters when we went. It was a bummer.

@sorrycharlie: I prepped her ahead of time and showed her lots of pics of Santa and she was so excited but I guess he was scary once we got up close and personal. We tried sitting with him, too, but that didn't help so I hope the bribe will work!

My mom told me yesterday that she and my dad arranged to have Santa come over to their house while we're there in a few weeks. I can't wait to see what happens, it's going to be a complete sh*tshow, because LO has stranger anxiety!

I am dreading this but want a picture. Did you have to pay still?
I am thinking we bribe him with a lollipop and I won't be there he doesn't like other people holding him when he can see me.

@Andrea: Hahaha aw, poor little one! I find the way children react to Santa and the Easter Bunny, etc so interesting. One year they're scared to death, the next year, they run up and give him a hug. @Rosie Girl: your lo looked at santa like he was going to kill him? See, these things I find so funny. I can't wait till we experience it ourselves!!

Liam won't go anywhere near santa so we just take a christmas tree picture. He is terrified of him!

When we took DD for the first time (@ 10 momths), we first took a family pic with Santa, so I was holding her in the pic. She looked happy and adorable! So that was the NICE picture
Then I handed her off to Santa and he held her.... She started crying right away and looked so angry at me for leaving her. The elves took a picture anyway and we bought that pose too. That's her "I'm scared of Santa" pic!! It's a classic!!
We haven't been to Santa since... I'm waiting til she's more comfortable, and I think this year is it... She's 3 and understands Santa and Christmas alot more this year. Crossing fingers!

Ugh. We had a similar experience. THe moment my daughter saw Santa, she clung to me and got hysterical. The worst part- I had pre-paid! It was via Sears Portrait Studios, so to make the appt (and avoid a line), you had to pre pay.
So, we'll get a photo of her hysterical, in my arms, next to Santa. $9.99 I'll never see again.
