Were you devastated when you found out Santa wasn't real? How did you find out?

No, I was not devastated. I don't even remember when I "officially" found out, since my parents still played Santa until my little sister got into high school.

I kind of found out slowly. By the time I knew for sure, I was fine with him not existing lol.

I wasn't devastated. I think I had been clinging to it, even though deep down, I knew he wasn't real. It finally became obvious to me when, one Christmas morning, I realized Santa forgot to fill our cats' stockings. I exclaimed "Oh no! Santa didn't get the cats anything!" and my mom goes "Ooops!" and goes and gets the cats' gifts off the top of the fridge. No more Santa.

I had suspected it before my mom finally sat me down and told me when I was 9, but I still cried a little. Lol

I found out way later than I would like to admit in a very sad way. I wasn't devastated but I felt pathetic.

I asked my grandma when I was 7, and she told me....which I feel was super rude lol.
I found out for real when I accidentally walked in on my parents putting the finishing touches on one of "santa's" gifts.

wasn't devastated at all! my parents weren't super into santa or lying to us, they never said one way or the other if there was a santa, it was more like, 'well, what do you think?' rather than answering when asked. my brother found the presents and showed them to me (i was in kindergarten) & told me that my parents were going to put them out and there would be a note saying they were from santa, he was right.

Oh goodness, I was way too old. It's embarrassing. Deep down I *knew* but I wasn't ready to give it up for a looong time

I don't remember how old I was. I wasn't devastated. I think it just confirmed what I thought. All my cousins and I were sleeping on the floor of my grandpa's house upstairs. Christmas tree was downstairs and I saw my family bring all the presents in from the garage and put them under the tree.

It was the winter that I was 6 and we'd flown to Arkansas. I woke up in the middle of the night with a bloody nose and saw my parents putting out the presents. I wasn't upset; instead, I felt like a "I know something you don't know" to my twin sister.

I was devastated! I was 6 or 7 and I remember crying when my parents told me! I felt so lied to, which is really surprising to think back on as an adult.

He had the exact same handwriting as my mom, so we figured it out pretty quickly!

I never believed in Santa...I don't know how or why but I always knew that my parents were the ones to buy gifts.

I was old enough that it wasn't devastating to officially find out.

I don't remember how or when I found out, so it must not have been too upsetting. I do remember my Mom always reminding me not to spoil it for other kids since I had lots of younger cousins. Really, as long as I was getting presents I didn't really care lol

My parents told me from the beginning that santa was a fun fictional character and that the main point of christmas was to celebrate the birth of christ, so I never had to "find out" otherwise

Mom and Santa always used the same variety of wrapping paper, and had the same handwriting. Also there were always Alhambra 5 gallon water bottles sitting in front of our non operating fireplace, and they were never moved Christmas morning, I always wondered why they would still be there if santa came through the chimney

I was 11. My teacher told me. I was beyond devastated. My parents had been lying to me all that time. It was awful.

It was gradual for me, not all at once. I just slowly got more suspicious until I put it all together around the 3rd or 4th grade. I remember wishing I still believed completely though because it was more fun and magical that way, lol

The main point of Christmas in my house wasn't to celebrate Christ, it wa Santa! I think a lot of homes are like that. My family will be like that. Haha I wasn't devistated when I in ally gave in to the truth as I suspected it. Mainly because I was 14!!! I think I figured it though a bit sooner just was in denial.

I just took it in stride, "oh, ok."
I was 6 or 7 and we were staying at my grandparents house, I hid under the table and waited for Santa. He came into the living room, dropped off gifts, stuffed the stockings, ate a cookie and left. So I went upstairs to bed... across the hall my parents were talking with the door cracked and I saw my dad in a red robe taking off a Santa hat and wig. Wah-wah. I didn't tell him until years later, he was so upset that I wish I hadn't!

I had suspected and figured it out at some point. When I asked my parents, they told me to keep it quiet and not to spoil it for my little brother! I felt like such a grownup... but I was probably about 7

I don't remember ever believing in Santa. my mum says that when I was around 3 my dad told me that Santa wasn't real, and I was just like "well, duh". I was always part of the ruse keeping my brother and sisters fooled!!

I really don't remember! Santa had the same handwriting as my mom, but I can't think back to when I put two and two together.. Or if I found out some other way?
