I host a cookie exchange every year and like to have savory treats for people to enjoy while we mingle. Do you have a favorite appetizer you serve to a crowd? We usually have about a dozen people show up.

@Mamaof2: @Mrs. Goose: @Smurfette: these sound great but I have no idea how to make them. Recipes?
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @blackbird: Yes, meatballs are always a fave!

I'd probably put out a cheese plate, a bowl of nuts and a couple of flatbreads. I like these: Sweet Potato, Ricotta, Arugula Flatbread (http://www.thekitchn.com/easy-appetizer-sweet-potato-ri-150726)
Leek, ricotta and lemon flatbread (http://www.thekitchn.com/fresh-for-summer-leek-ricotta-124154)

@mediagirl: I add milk (the Bisquick box recipe doesn't have it but I think it helps)
3 cups Bisquick
4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 pkg. (16 oz.) sausage (or Turkey)
1/2 cup milk
mix all together (sausage isn't cooked), roll into balls, and then bake. I usually google the bake temp and time cause I never remember.

@mediagirl: I have found a lot of great savory recipes from the pepperidge farm website using their puff pastry. They always look super elegant and fancy but are really very easy.
My family also does spinach balls, stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped water chestnuts and cheese boards!

Spinach artichoke dip kept warm in a crockpot with lots of yummy bread. Good for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

@Mrs D: great idea! Thanks!
@rattles: @Smurfette: these are fantastic! Thank you!

Spinach dip and pumpernickel bread is always a hit. Mini quiches and spanakopita (I always buy these frozen and just pop them in the oven). A meat and cheese tray is easy and disappears pretty quickly.

@looch: oh god these are so good. You can stuff them with goat cheese, too

@mediagirl: spanakopita -
1. go to the store
2. buy them
3. bake them
4. eat them

Also, these are amazing. I've used shallots and garlic and you can serve with baguette

I love to make stuffed mushrooms with a mix of cooked italian sausage, the chopped up mushroom stems that have been sauteed, mozzarella and parm cheeses, and a bit of bread crumbs. Whatever filling is leftover, I thaw a sheet of puff pastry and flatten out. Top with the filling and roll up. Cut into slices and bake.

@Mamaof2: Hahahahaha I was so interested to see how you were going to answer @mediagirl:. I do make my spanikopita from scratch but only because I'm Greek so I learned to do it as a little kid. I've only been able to teach people in person, I could never just give the recipe! But when I don't feel like making it, the Spanikopita from the Costco freezer section is surprisingly good.

@Truth Bombs: what's your moussaka recipe? I've made it once and it took forever for prep mostly.

@Alivoo01: yep totally yummy! The recipe I use is actually from DH's ex. When we got married his office put together a recipe box for us.

They're so quick, easy, and tasty!
I don't follow this recipe. I just chop up peppers and green onion or regular onion small and mix it with room temp cream cheese and grated cheese. Spread on a tortilla, roll, bake at 400 for 10 mins or so, slice, and serve with sour cream and salsa. You can add jalapeño if you like spice. It's key I feel to chop up any veggies you put in nice and small.

Baked Zucchini fritters. Mini Chicken tacos and pigs in a blanket from Trader Joe's are also always a big hit!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I don't like moussaka so I never learned to make it. Bad Greek.

@Truth Bombs: Do you make your own pastry? If so, that's amazing!

@lamariniere: I just saw your response. Done. This is definitely on the menu this year! Perhaps next to sausage rolls.
