@yellowbird: where from? What's your favorite brand of shift dress? Links? Pics?

Jackson fit pants in black, gray and navy from Banana Republic ( I would wait until they have a 40% off promo)
Black turtleneck sweater, in a fine gauge, that hits mid hip
Black belt with silver hardware

Jeans! I know that sounds silly but I only own two good pairs and they are both maternity jeans. I get hand me downs from my sister because I'm a penny pincher and they never fit right.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@Danizaur: not silly at all. I only have one pair that fits right now. I noticed our Belk sells pretty much every brand of jeans out there, I"m thinking of spending a day there trying on every brand of jean they have.

Pencil Skirt and a fitted silk blouse or

A really good pair of flats (all mine are cheap and don't last through multiple seasons!) Probably some cardigans as well.

I have a great blazer and great black and nude flats, as well as a few dressy shells to wear under the blazer or cardigans, so I'd probably invest in some nice dress pants (my current black ones are from Old Navy and pilling really badly) and maybe a nice classic black dress (I have a few, but all in pre-pregnancy size and way too tight to wear comfortably now). Usually I shop for these things at Ann Taylor, Loft, BR, J Crew, and Nordstrom Rack. I tried on a gorgeous black dress by Tahari that I passed on a little while back... sooooo regretting it now.

Boots and tips. I finally bought new jeans to fit my postpartum body but now I have trouble with the tops that are non flattering also, dresses and flats. I could live in dresses, and since I'm cheap...I think I could swing all of this for under 200 (:

I would buy slimming pair of jeans (dark wash, slim fitting, slight boot cut), and some long, versatile shirts.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
I would get a great pair of dark wash trouser or skinny jeans (maybe both?) and knee high boots. my boots are nearly destroyed from bending at the ankle...next time, I will use those boot shaper things, or a pool noodle a la pinterest!

i legit need a whole new wardrobe...so i would buy as much on sale that i could to replace it. mainly jeans and shirts
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@bpcmarj: the pool noodles are great for boot holders! I used to use wine bottles, then my son came along and thought those would be good toys, so we switched over to pool noodles and haven't looked back since!

Cardigans! Gap outlet has great cardigans for $10 I think? They also had 3/4 length shirts that were basic but a good cut for $9.
Also, my post baby body needs high quality jeans. I buy Paige Premiums at Nordstrom Rack for about $70 and I get them altered at Nordstrom for free.

I'm with sarbear!
I'd get 2 pair of jeans on sale under $50. One skinny one boot, both dark wash
1 pair of boots & 1 pair of flats. I love Charlotte Russe for shoes bc they always have amazing sales & hold up multiple seasons ( 2 pairs easily under or around $50)

A versatile dress, under $30
As many on sale blouses/tanks I could get
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Ponte pants (Ann Taylor factory)
A couple nice fitting sweaters (j crew factory has nice ones)
A navy plaid shirt and/or a plaid flannel shirt
A leather motojacket. Nordstrom rack had a Michael kors one for $100!
I want some frye boots too but those are def out of the $200 range

I'd buy a gorgeous pair of black leather boots. I got a brown pair a few years ago and wear them all the time, so I would love to replace my crappy fake leather ones with something high quality.

Personally, I'd go with some dark wash jeans, a casual (cotton, perhaps seersucker) blazer, and a more expensive pair of black or nude flats. I'm in elementary education, so my professional wardrobe doesn't have to be very expansive.

A really nice trench coat from Banana Republic for the Fall/Spring.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I would get work clothes:
black wrap dress, skirts in fall/winter colors, brown dress of some sort, and two fun colored cotton blazers.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
Since Banana Republic was having a promo where you save 40% on your order of $200 or more, I bought 2 pairs of pants, a windowpane peplum top (I can't stop buying peplums, they really flatter me in a way I did't realize) and a black turtleneck sweater.
Next stop is casual shoes, I am struggling on this one, but I am looking at a pair of wedge booties by Crocs!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@runsyellowlites: those last ones are cute. Is that brand comfortable?
coconut / 8305 posts
@mediagirl: I actually haven't ever gotten flats there, just boots & heels. Also bc my foot size I always have to really break in my flats bc every pair I've ever had gives me blisters at first.
I've also been happy with my other shoes fork there though!
