For the past couple of days I've had bad back pain and today I started to have some mild cramping as well. The nurse had told me I should always call if I have cramping that starts in my back so I did. They decided to bring me in to see the nurse practitioner. Well of course my appt started 45 minutes late and I was just sitting in the waiting room freaking out. I finally got in and she took my temp and said I was running a slight fever which could be normal but could be not so good. They ran urinalysis and everything looked a-ok. The NP said nothing was a huge red flag but she did want to get an ultrasound to be sure. Well since it was late in the day she didn't think they could get me in until tomorrow. So I begged her to try to find a heartbeat with the Doppler. I could tell she didn't want to because I'm only ten weeks and it's possible that it's too early to hear it. Well I talked her into it and of course we didn't hear anything at which point I LOST it and cried like crazy. Sooo..... She called the lab and talked them into fitting me in for an u/s. Baby is totally fine! Measuring right on track with a heart rate of 170. He/she even waved at me to tell me not to worry : ) the NP told me her only concern was that the aches mixed with the fever could imply some sort of infection so I've been instructed to rest, push fluids, and keep an eye on the fever and any other symptoms that pop up. Phew!!
