my goal when my LO used to fuss at diaper changes was distraction - singing songs, chatting, etc and making a lot of eye contact, and then yes - move VERY quickly. Good luck!!

My kids gets really riled up sometimes too. What helps my son most is my hubby holding his hand....giving him a finger to grip and talking to him while I change. For my daughter, rubbing a little lotion on her feet really stopped her in her tracks and calmed her down in the early days.

yes def change after he is nice and full ( i know sucks to wake up a groggy baby with a diaper change) but my lo will yell if he is hungry and we are changing his diaper first.

Mine hated it for the first month or so, then he got over it. After a couple months toys became a great distraction. Now at 7 1/2 months he is back to hating it again, and can now squirm away and flip over. Yippee.

hmm..how does he do if you're only changing clothes? is it the diaper specifically that he hates having changed - or the changing table? if he hates having his clothes off, too, maybe leave his top half dressed/blanketed (I'm sure you've already tried that).

I second the singing..my nanny-LO has heard lots and lots of horrible songs in the past 1.5 years..the wackier the better!

@lemondrop: LOL - SAME!!! I'm getting really good at changing her while she's on her belly.

@Shimmer: Mine did the same for about a month and then it got better. Definitely try doing it when he has a fully tummy. That seemed to be the only way to avoid the screaming.
