We met with a realtor last year who really scared us about what we could expect to get for our home and told us to take very low offers, etc. We've spent the last year coming to terms with losing a good bit of our down payment and having our house sit on the market for awhile.
We listed this week on the high end thinking we'd have room to cut the price if it sat a long time. It sold in less than 48 hours for more than we asked. We now have less than 60 days to find a home and close and we are scrambling.
We haven't seen anything we love...we toured 7 homes on Saturday and didn't like anything. We are in full blown panic mode. I know the market is picking up and stuff is being listed every day...but I just feel like we really messed up. We love our current home. Adore it...it's just too small for us now. So I know we need a new home but we thought we had more time to come to terms with leaving! That compacted with the stress of finding a house and not wanting to settle...we're just terrified. Please, please tell me success stories about finding a home in a short amount of time. I kind of feel like puking.
ETA: My husband is an anxious maniac. The thought of having to rent somewhere temporarily and not having a 'home,' is enough to send him into a tailspin. He didn't want to be rushed out of his home (meaning taking way less than we asked for) and now we are (though in the best case scenario).
