Does anyone send their laundry (not dry cleaning) out to be done? We're planning on doing it once we move but the OCD side of me can't let go! What if they do it wrong, fold it wrong, etc. I'm insane, I know!

DH wants to do this so badly but there is no service in our town for that. If we moved to the city we could. I think that you should do a tiral run, you'll probably love it!

No, I wish. DH vetoed. I feel like we have services for every chore he would normally do, but none for the ones he thinks I should do.

I used to but after DH and I moved in together he wanted me to stop, so he did all of our laundry. The service I used was amazing, they washed my clothes better than I did! But it was definitely pricey.

I did when I lived in NYC. I was so broke then, too, but the only laundromat nearby had terrible hours and was so unpleasant, plus those machines were still expensive. I dropped off and picked up, but they washed and folded and it was awesome.
The only thing that sucked is everything went in the dryer, where I usually hang up a bunch of stuff to dry. It was still worth it though.
Now we have a washer/dryer on our floor in my building, and my next apt has it in unit, so I won't be doing it again any time soon.

I used to do this when I was single and living in the city with no washing machine. Now I have no idea why I did this since I had so much time compared to now with 2 kids. I could really use that service now!

We don't.... but I would be fine with it. I'm not picky or attached to my clothes at all.

@Foodnerd81: Our future place has a communal laundry room. The current residents said they have no problem using it but she's a SAHM and has the option of washing during the day. I'll only be able to do it nights/weekends. We're planning on sending it out just to save our little bit of free time and not have to deal with it then. Did the dryer ever shrink anything?

@LindsayInNYC: I wouldn't put things that I thought would shrink-- so it meant, say, sweaters would get worn a bunch of times, then sit in a pile for me to handwash or bring home to my parents' house to wash and hang/lay flat to dry. I never had anything ruined by them, though, I just was sort of careful what I brought. With the laundry in your building, you could just do one small delicates load or whatever, when you have time, but the bulk of your stuff would come back nice and folded. Since i had to pay so much for the laundromat anyway, I felt like it wasn't even that much more money.

when we lived in nyc, we had two laundry machines in our building which were almost always being used or out of service. we sent our laundry out and it was awesome. i say go for it and see how you feel! i really appreciated not having to deal with it, and it was relatively inexpensive. also, i loved that they folded all the clothes and sheets (especially the fitted sheets!) so nice and compactly.
