Lo is 13 moths and no separation anxiety thank goodness. We do have stranger anxiety though. It started pretty young, and is getting better. First she would cry if a stranger just looked at her. This included people that she didn't see every day, so even grandparents. It was bad. But she had no issues with me leaving her. Now she's at the point where she likes people to look and talk to her, but not to pick her up unless she knows them very very well. So pretty much just her grandparents.

Yeah, at around that age my LO did the same. Even now at 13 months, she'll look for me after waking from a nap (if I'm not home that is) and is sad/cranky for a few minutes but is okay afterwards. She has bad stranger anxiety (doesn't like men!) but her separation anxiety in general is getting much better.

I think it hit us around 10 months, so a little later, but it didn't last very long.

Lil, has just started to get a bit weary if someone holds her and I'm out of her sight. Last weekend my mom was here and took her upstairs to play/change her diaper while I was doing some chores, and Lil screamed until I came upstairs and my mom handed her off, then she was fine! She's 4 months, which I think is a bit early.

We are going thru this now at 6 months. The darn kid won't let me put him down! I used to be able to put him in the exersaucer or jumperoo and leave the room to make a meal and he would be fine for awhile. Now he needs me right by him all the time.

Stranger anxiety has hit as well!

Ours just started with the stranger/ separation anxiety (she's 5 months) and all of a sudden cried whenever her grandfather held or talked to her. She is used to him and sees him often, so it really surprised us. What we do now, is I hold her when we go somewhere, or when someone new comes over, for about 20-30 minutes, and let her get used to the people around her, then, if she's interested, I'll let them hold her. If she cries, I don't force her to stay in the other person's arms. I take her back and soothe her and may try again later. She also cries sometimes when I leave the room, so I'm good about making sure she's distracted and comfortable with whoever is with her, before I try. It's worse for her if she's tired or hungry, so I try to make sure she's content and comfortable.

Separate anxiety hit around 8 months and lasted until 10 months. And then started up again at around 18 months. Now, he's 2 yrs old and he could care less if we're around or not. haha.
