Well, my schedule has gone into oblivion since I got pregnant, but this is what I usually do -
Every night after dinner -
Vacuum
Clean up dining room/kitchen/living room
Every other night or every few days as needed -
Mop
Saturday -
Clean 2 bathrooms
** If I know we're busy one weekend then I will clean one bathroom a night at some point
Monday night is when I do DD's laundry. Our laundry is just as needed. Sheets/towels we do on the weekends.

I try and clean the kitchen, wipe down surfaces and swiffer floors each evening. I make the beds and empty the dishwasher first thing when I wake up. Then at naps or after bed, I rotate as follows:
Monday: dust
Tuesday: toilets/sinks
Wednesday: laundry
Thursday: mirrors/tubs
Friday: floors (mop/vacuum)
Weekend: yard, laundry, extra
I do an extra, deep clean chore each weekend. I rotate between cleaning appliances (fridge/oven), wiping down cabinets/baseboards/doorknobs and washing windows. There's a built in Saturday off a month. It's not perfectly executed, but that's my plan anyway!

This is my schedule that I currently am not sticking to:
Monday- bathroom & vacuum
Tuesday- dust and wipe down kitchen
Wednesday- vacuum and clean hardwood floors
Thursday- no chores
Friday- sheets/towels & vacuum
I usually clean the kitchen every night after dinner and I do laundry whenever it needs to be done. Bed gets made every morning. Wash diapers every other day.

I fold and put away a load of laundry everyday. I wash laundry every other day. It's rarely all done at once but I never spend more than 30 minutes on it and that's what I prefer. I wipe counters and sweep the floor every night.
Monday: dust
Tuesday: vac/straighten bedrooms
Wednesday: mop
Thursday: bathrooms
Friday: bigger project/catch up/meal planning day
Bed is made every morning. I clean up toys during nap and at bedtime. Dishes are done at those times too. This is the loose schedule we follow. Sometimes activities get in the way of the chores for that day. I don't have a monthly schedule. I just do other things as needed.

This is my schedule I absolutely do not stick to:
Monday: Laundry/Sheets
Tuesday: Dust/Floors
Wednesday: Bathrooms (this is the one I skip most often )
Thursday: Organize/Declutter
Friday: Deep clean kitchen
Literally I never have stuck to this 100% every week!
Because we have a big dog that sheds so much, I have to sweep at least once a day. I SHOULD vacuum every day too. Every morning I make the bed because it makes me feel accomplished. I try to have the sink empty or close to it (so dishwasher loaded & unloaded), the kitchen wiped down and things generally picked up by the time DH gets home every day. I fail at that a lot!

We recently got a housecleaner twice a month to do bathrooms and the stove and annoying stuff like baseboards, but generally our schedule is like:
- Run and fold laundry everyday - easier and faster for me to do smaller loads than some giant heap. Tide free and gentle pods.
- Dishwasher gets run every night. Finish tabs.
- Counters and table get wiped down after every meal. Lysol wipes and/or Huggies one and done wipes (I wipe off toddlers face and hands and use another to wipe the table real fast).
- ROOMBA vacuums every other day.
- Mop kitchen floor every few days. Swiffer in a hurry, Shark steam mop if I have more time (in which case bathroom floors and laundry room also get steam mopped).
- Bathroom counters and toilet seats get Lysol or Clorox wipes twice a week. Clorox bleach tabs in the toilet tank. Clorox ultra thick toilet gel to clean the bowl every week. Windex wipes for mirrors. Tilex shower spray after showers at night. When I cleaned the tubs and showers I liked Scrubbing Bubbles, wash and rinse, then spray the grout with Clorox spray if I felt like it was looking dingy and then scrub with a brush. Once a week.
- Old English wipes for furniture and Clorox dust wipes or Swiffer duster for everything else.
- We have white painted cabinets so I just wipe those down with a wet washcloth.

The only thing we have a schedule for is dishes and kitchen/dining room clean up. We alternate days; after dinner the "on" person is responsible for washing dishes, wiping down high chairs and dining room table, and sweeping the floor in both rooms. (I also always clean the counters in the kitchen).
Everything else we do as needed, although I try to vacuum the whole first floor once a week.

The only thing I can add is to keep your cleaning supplies in the room where you will use them...so for example in the living room, keep a pack of whatever you use to clean, stock each bathroom with the same supplies, keep sheets in the bedroom to change them rather than in the linen closet. Reduces your steps around the house and it also makes it easy to spot clean in case the area needs it.

The only thing I do on a schedule is laundry on Mondays. I wash everything and change the sheets.
I've found that having cleaning schedules don't work for me, I'm too all or nothing. So I sweep and mop as needed. Everything else my husband actually does right now.

You ladies are ambitious. I wish I had a cleaning schedule. Currently We just do a deep clean every other weekend. During the week I try to Swiffer the floors, tidy up all the toys before bed and straighten things up a bit. Dishes always get washed after dinner and laundry is done as needed.

I feel like I need to make more of an effort to get on a schedule. My problem though is that if the WHOLE house is not clean at once (on the same day) then I feel like its just not clean at all. I need to do the whole lot on one day, have it clean for a few hours, and by the next day feel like its dirty again!
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@looch: my moms cleaning lady does this - keeps a full set of cleaning supplies in each bathroom - and I actually think it's genius and intend to do the same thing!
Wow so most of you clean the whole house every week? Right now our cleaning lady comes every 2 weeks and other than wiping down kitchen counters and vacuuming big messes we do nothing in between. By the time she comes the house is barely looking dirty enough for a clean, so I figured I would do an every other week schedule.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@Modern Daisy: nope. I keep it weekly so that when I inevitably miss one of the days, it still gets done every couple of weeks, but I don't get to every job every day.
persimmon / 1445 posts
I have a daily list but weekly chores get accomplished as I remember them:
morning- put away clean dishes from previous day, start a load of laundry, wipe baby's breakfast tray, clean up breakfast dishes
afternoon during nap- fold and put away laundry, clean up lunch dishes, dinner prep, sweep and spot clean kitchen floor, one or two weekly cleaning projects such as scrubbing bathrooms, mopping the kitchen/ bathroom floors, washing sheets and towels, vacuuming, meal plan and play with my coupons, etc.
after dinner- load and run dishes, wipe counters and kitchen table, usually change the tablecloth as well (why do I bother to use these since I have to wash it every single dang day), tidy up toys/ art projects
I get to the baseboards and cleaning my appliances (except for the microwave, which I clean with the dishes) when they are visibly dirty, aka once every couple of weeks-month. Ironing happens as needed.

I need to do this. My house is a wreck. I feel like I have no time during the week and it's crazy catch up on the weekends.

Daily: first thing in the morning I do laundry, in the evening we pick up toys and finish up a good cleaning of the kitchen.
Monday: whole house tidy while the kids are in school- put away all the random stuff around the house, re organize clothes/toy bins etc as necessary. I also take a good look at the fridge and get that in order.
Tues-Thurs: bathroom/floors/dusting as needed. I also do other errands these days, so the exact timing changes.
Fri: paperwork- this might not be considered cleaning but I can't stand the clutter so I try to keep on top of it.
Weekend: whatever is urgent or I didn't get to.

I have a loose schedule. The daily items are: run a load of laundry/hang it up/put it away, run the dishwasher (after dinner), clean up the counters and anything in the sink (also after dinner, but if there is lunch/breakfast stuff, I try to get to those earlier), vacuum (yes, daily...we have a lot of traffic in and out and even ditching the shoes at the door, it's gross if I neglect it more than one day), and deep clean at least one area. My house is never perfect, but that's not the standard of housekeeping to which I aspire. A home that is reasonably tidy, has no funky cultures/extra-large dust bunnies growing anywhere, and is not at all inviting to creepy crawlies is my goal.
Favorite products: Miele vacuum--I love this thing! Microfiber cloths, Skoy cloths (with water and sometimes a bit of dish soap for cleaning counters and the dinner table), and rags. Dish soap (the huge bottle of environmentally friendly stuff from Costco, although any brand will do). Vinegar and water for windows and mirrors. I like my steam mop okay, but I use an O Cedar flip mop more frequently, because it's easier to sweep the floor/corners with the "finger" side (it's more of a duster) and then just get the mop side wet to mop than to vacuum, dust the corners, and wait for the steam mop to get hot. The only disposable item I use regularly is the Clorox toilet cleaning stick/disposable heads.

@Modern Daisy: I think it's our dog but if I didn't sweep daily and dust at least weekly our house would look disgusting. I feel like it does at it is.
I definitely don't mop or do bathrooms weekly but I have it in my "schedule" because that would be ideal!

Our house is small and the kids and I SAH part time, so it gets dirty quickly. Here is my schedule that I don't actually manage to do:
Daily: one load of laundry, dishes, tidy, sweep kitchen and dining room
M: dust and vacuum family room
T: one bathroom
W: dust and vacuum living room
R: one bathroom
F: spot clean
S: mop hardwoods amd kitchen

Our house is big and we try to deep clean one area a day during the week during nap time or right after LO goes to bed. Otherwise it builds up and gets out of control.
Monday - clean kitchen (Scrub stove, clean out coffee maker, toaster oven; mop floors; organize pantry; organize fridge; wipe out microwave; wipe down baseboards)
Tuesday- clean main floor bath, living room & entryway
Wednesday- clean master bedroom and bath
Thursday- clean LO room and bath
Friday - I pick either playroom or dining room (not used much) and clean/dust
Saturday - yard work; vacuum basement
Everyday: Vacuum main floor
Wipe down kitchen counter tops after dinner
Run a load of laundry

Wow, so many of you do laundry everyday! I've always done it once a week and that's worked really well, that way once everything is put away it doesn't feel like there is endless laundry to be done.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@Modern Daisy: I think it's just preference. I have marathon laundry days and then just sit down in the evening and fold a mountain of laundry while I watch t.v. It works so much better than when I tried to split it up. I just can't motivate to fold more often!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I used to do laundry on a daily basis...when I was staying at home it was easy to do it that way. But now, I do most of it over the weekends and I usually have one load that I do midweek. We have a washing machine that I can set to go off on a delay, so I can put the clothes in the machine in the morning and when I get home, the cycle just finished and I can put them in the dryer.
Also, what does everyone use for furniture polish? I've noticed that the wood surfaces in my house are kind of tacky and have a residue, so I want to switch from what we're using, which I think is Pledge. Any suggestions?
coconut / 8854 posts
@looch: personally for our wood surfaces I use a Norwex cloth (microfiber) it keeps the dust off for much longer, and gets that residue off!

every morning: empty dishwasher, swiffer floors, make bed
every night: clean and vacuum play area, clean kitchen, run dishwasher
every other day: laundry (try to fold as soon as it's done)
fridays: change sheets and towels, vacuum living room rug
I have a cleaning service every 2 weeks to do a deep clean- bathrooms, mop floors, baseboards, vacuum.
