I was diagnosed with it and the babies were delivered that same evening!

1. 36 weeks 4 days (but with twins)
2. Bad headache that wouldn't go away no matter how much water I drank or after taking Advil, 'floaties' when I stood up, high blood pressure (150/100 I think?), traces of protein in my urine
3. After getting my BP checked at the local pharmacy on a hunch and seeing how high it was, I called my dr who had me go to L and D immediately. I was admitted at 6:30 pm and the babies were delivered via C-section at 11 that night! However, I would've had a c-section no matter what bc both babies were breech.

@marionberry: I'm so sorry to hear this. I had pre-e and remember just bawling the entire way home from my appointment.

I was 38 weeks when they found it, but I think I developed it at 36weeks because my BP had been high that day. I attributed to a caffeinated drink I had that morning since I hadn't had caffeine my whole pregnancy... thank goodness it didn't progress rapidly in those two weeks.

But it was very bad at my 38 week appt. My MW immediately put me on strict bed rest and I had to do blood labs and a 24 hour urine test. By the time I got those back it had been about 5 days, and the urine test was pretty bad so my MW consulted with the on-call doctor at the hospital where they have a partnership and he stated I needed to be induced THAT DAY.

So I was induced and even though I was on Magnesium sulfate (for BP - and it's a relaxin known to slow labor) and pitocin, I had a really fast labor. Pitocin drip started at 5pm, active labor/water broke at 12am and delivered at 3:44am. It was rough, not gonna lie. Although I didn't have pain meds

It was scary but I was well-monitored. Don't take it lightly - follow your OB's instructions: rest, hydrate, eat well.

1. Never officially diagnosed

2. I had many of the symptoms (high blood pressure, massive swelling/rapid weight gain, protein in urine, vision issues)

3. I was induced at 40 weeks, 4 days and she was born vaginally the next day.

4. I had a moderately serious post partum hemmorhage after delivering the placenta. That combined with required magnesium sulfate drip for the pre eclampsia meant I had to stay in the delivery room, strapped to the bed, with the catheter replaced after delivery to make sure all my vital signs returned to normal. That was an additional 12 hours after delivery and the worst part for me.

Many people feel extremely woozy and out of it due to the mag drip, but I didn't really have any of those side effects.

My milk had a lot of trouble coming in, but I'm not sure what ultimately caused that.

All my symptoms were gone by the time we were discharged two days later. Except the swelling took another couple of weeks.

@marionberry: I'm not really sure! My doctor sucked as far as bedside manner goes, so he didn't bother explaining anything about why it might have happened. He was great in the moment so that's good lol but I won't be seeing him if I ever have another baby.

@marionberry: I literally was told to lie on my left side for three weeks and only get up for bathroom breaks but I was happy to be able to make it to 40 weeks!

1. At what week was your pre-e diagnosed? PIH starting at 35 weeks, Pre-E diagnosed officially at delivery
2 What were your symptoms? Severe water retention, puffiness, high blood pressure, severe fatigue, malaise
3. When did you deliver and via what method (vaginal, c-section)? NSVD (normal spontaneous vaginal delivery) at 40 weeks and 1 day.
4. Anything else you want to share? She was a wee bit small at 6 lbs 4 oz and then lost more than 10% of her body weight to 5 lbs 7 oz. I needed a little extra monitoring. they were going to keep me an extra day, but I insisted on going home (otherwise known as a full-on melt down). Milk didn't come in for 4 days.

@marionberry: she asked me to take it easy and monitor my bp while on bed rest. My pressures went down appropriately, so no further medication was needed. I did get weekly ultrasounds to monitor growth, the bad cord insertion and the placenta's health.

ETA - I was never diagnosed with pre-e and despite losing a lot of blood in labor my milk came in 36 hours after delivery and we had an easy start to breastfeeding (if that's a concern for you)

Hope everything goes ok for you, I know it's been quite a journey for you The biggest thing is to take it as easy as you can, nothing (including work!) is more important than bringing this little one home safely.

1. No official diagnosis, but I had weekly appointments from 24-28 weeks. Blood work and 24 hour urine test were all fine. Was told to take it easy in the afternoons when my bp tended to spike, was allowed to work from home for most of my last 3 weeks of work since it was trending upwards again. Also had very high bp at delivery and for a little while after, hospitalization for an extra day.
2. High bp, headaches, swelling, carpal tunnel.
3. Vaginal, 39 weeks, 1 day, water broke on it's own to start labor, no problems other than extra bp monitoring.
4. Was told they will be keeping an extra close eye on my bp this time around, same ob but at a new office. Milk came in after 4 days.

I'm so sorry!! Pre E sucks. I was at high risk for my whole pregnancy because I had a kidney transplant as a child and already had high BP because of that So my situation was a bit different.
1. At what week was your pre-e diagnosed? I was borderline at 23 weeks, I was hospitalized for 5 days and released on bed rest. I made it to 34 weeks exactly because I was hospitalized again
2 What were your symptoms? High BP, very high protein levels in my urine
3. When did you deliver and via what method (vaginal, c-section)? 34 weeks, emergency C-section under general anesthesia (baby was in distress, no time for an epidural)
4. Anything else you want to share? Take it as easy as you can!! I was borderline with pre-e at 23 weeks but luckily my doctors allowed me to go home on strict bed rest and I was able to cook my little boy for 11 more weeks and am SO thankful for it. Drinks tons of water, eat well and lay on your left side as much as possible!! Pre-e diagnosis is scary, but just know that the doctors are doing the best for you and your baby!! Also, you will pirobably need extra monitoring. After 23 weeks I was going to the doctor 1 per week, and then at 25 weeks I think I started going 2x week and had NST's at every visit plus I had to do 24 hour urine samples every week or 2. Very annoying but I had to remind myself that's what was best for baby and me. The upside was that I got more ultrasounds and saw my baby on a regular basis!!

@petunia354: I agree! They had it on for 24 hours after he was born and it is kinda scary how out of it I was during that time. I didn't Ben remember telling my mom that my son was born a couple hours after the conversation. My husband had to do everything for our baby.

2. I thought I had food poisoning. Throwing up every hour and stomach cramping.
3. I had a c-section the day I was diagnosed.
4. I really thought I had food poisoning. I went in bc my sister (a nurse) said if I continued to throw up and got dehydrated, I could go into labor so just to be safe I went in. My BP was elevated and wouldn't come down, I had protein in my urine and my bloodwork was not good. I wasn't dilated at all so I had a c-section. My cousin went undiagnosed for a month (thought she had the flu) so please be aware of how you are feeling and go in if you don't feel right.

My experience was somewhat similar to @Navy-Mommy where I had the 24 hour urine test 4 times at least and I never ended up with protein in my urine or platelet issues. It was just considered Pregnancy Induced Hypertension.

1. Around 32 or 33 weeks I think.
2 My symptoms were extreme edema (including facial edema), blurred vision, I felt sick, and elevated blood pressure. I was also gaining massive amounts of weight at the end even though I wasn't eating.
3. I had a scheduled c-section. LO was breech so it was going to be scheduled anyway, it just ended up being moved up. I delivered LO at 37 weeks, 1 day and LO was in perfect health. She also weighed 8lbs 12oz!!
4. After the first 24 hour urine test came back negative my doctor's office recommended pulling me out of work, which I was ok with but asked for a few days to wrap things up. They had no problem with this but upped my weekly visits to twice a week. The very next doctor's visit my blood pressure was spiked again and they admitted me to the hospital for monitoring and another 24 hour urine test. I didn't develop pre-e, so they sent me home. At this point work was done for me. I had bi-weekly NST, blood pressure checks, and ultrasounds to check my fluid levels. Almost every visit I would end up getting sent to the hospital for further monitoring because my blood pressure would spike. At 36 weeks I hit 165/95 and they almost took the baby via c-section but with rest my blood pressure did drop, so they decided to send me home if I agreed to going into the office every other day to be checked. Normally they would admit you to the hospital for monitoring until they got me to 37 weeks but because the doctors in the practice knew me so well, and knew I wouldn't mess around, they felt comfortable having me go home and gave me strict instructions on what I could do. They wanted to get me to 37 weeks and then take LO. 37 weeks was July 4th, so we had our LO on the 5th.
