Not necessary, but very useful. We used our loyally for about 5 months. Now that she is a year and sitting and walking, we don't use it anymore.

I use it all the time! I got a shopping cart/high chair cover and use it at restaurants too! M loves to bite so at least she's biting a clean cover. I picked up a new infantino off eBay for $15!

I liked it, especially in the summer when DS was in short pants and the seat was hot from being outside.

I use mine all the time. I hate how germy carts and highchairs are so it comes in handy.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@yellowbird: yes! Some of our fave restaurants are dives and you can just feel the layer of grime on the high chairs! Germs are one thing...filth is another.

Nope never used it. It was just n extra step that was unnecessary.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I don't use ours. It is one extra thing to carry!

Nay for us. I always wore him in the ergo when I did any shopping. Now that he is older I pop him in the cart without a cover. I do get freaked out about the germs on restaurant tables so I bought some of those stick on placemats at BBB!

Nope. Didn't get one and see no need for it. Like @mrs. train said, just one more unnecessary step!
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
We have one but I plan to use it for high chairs in restaurants rather than shopping carts. I've actually been putting M in the Ergo to grocery shop recently and it's so convenient! Plus it stops the grandmothery types who like to try to touch my baby!!

We never used one though if I had one, it would be nice. I might not remember to bring it with me though. I already have a hard enough time remembering to bring shopping bags. We just wipe the seat area down. Also, my younger one already refuses to sit in the shopping cart seat now - as well as high chairs/boosters.

Someone handed one down to us and I tried to use it once, but it didn't really fit the cart and I soo realized it wasn't necessary.

Not necessary but sometimes I wish I had one! First for the germs (people often put raw meat in the baby seat... as well as other kids...) but also because I don't think the seat is very comfortable!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@Mrs. Pen: oh ewwww.. I didn't even think of the raw meat. Chicken. EW.
grapefruit / 4554 posts
We use it occasionally in the supermarket (if we don't we use a sani cloth) but almost always in a highchair.

I used ours for the first time and it just looked comfier. I liked attaching the toys to it too. I got an infant ino from tj maxx.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@regberadaisy: I know I totally did that before havif a kid! Wouldn't have even crossed my mind. And eggs!
I try to keep wipes or sanitizing spray with me now. But if not I just make sure we all wash hands when we get home
honeydew / 7917 posts
Nay. I only used it a few times, and I didn't like it. Each time I had to adjust the belt so that it would stay secure to the cart, and it was just easier to plop him down in the cart and sanitize.

We used one when DS was smaller and he really liked it when we used certain carts that were really big like the ones at Target and Costco. I think it made him feel more secure. Now we don't use it so much.

@Mrs. Pen: Ahhh...this comment is going to make me get one pronto! I didn't even think about the raw meat!

We didn't use one. I baby wore her a lot in the grocery store but I wasn't too worried about germs for when she's in the cart. But when she was tiny enough I usually baby wore her and since she started walking at 10 months that's been her preferred mode in the grocery store since then so she doesn't spend too much time in the cart.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
Yep every time we use a cart, I see it as a necessity with how dirty carts are.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
I didn't think it was necessary but we gave one a try. She does pull it back sometimes which defeats the purpose since I still have to wipe down the car. But she enjoys going to the store so much more in it. I guess maybe it's more comfortable but I'm okay with whatever keeps her happy long enough for us to shop.

Not necessary. We had one and used it one time. I found it bulky and more of a PITA than it was worth.
I embrace germs. I want C to have a god immune system. I just wipe stuff down with a baby wipe, if I feel it necessary.
squash / 13199 posts
@mrsjyw: yay we use ours all the time at stores and restaurants. I also see it as a necessity because the carts are filthy and get spills of raw produce like meat, eggs and milk. other babies also lick the carts. we have the infantino cloud that has velcro tabs and we really like it

We use a shopping cover whenever we are in a store that has raw meat. I don't mind germs, but LO got salmonella once already so I'm trying to prevent it from happening again. We don't know for sure how she got it, but the doctor said that there's a good chance it was from the shopping cart. I used to be in the germs are good for you camp.... but salmonella just isn't ok.
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
I used it when she was younger - especially at the grocery store... you never know what people have put on the areas that your LO is touching (or chewing).... ie: raw meat - yuck!
honeydew / 7235 posts
We have one and I use it every time we go to target or grocery shopping --- LO is almost 7 months old.
coconut / 8498 posts
In general I think they're unnecessary, but it was incredibly useful for a time. LO would try to climb out of the cart unless we were using the cover. She doesn't try anymore, so we no longer use it.
grapefruit / 4049 posts
Never used one... Maybe if we were gifted one or given a hand-me-down, I'd try it out, but IMHO, it's one thing we definitely can do without.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
We use one -I really like it! It keeps her comfy & occupied (she loves the patterns for some reason)
grapefruit / 4400 posts
We only used one when she couldn't quite sit up on her own-- just used the fabric and stuffed it in the high chair for extra support.
I'm not scared about germs (yes, even E.Coli on shopping carts). I don't even wipe them down.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@HabesBabe: omg I am a FREAK about salmonella. A freak. My husband is the only one I let deal with chicken at home. I cringe a little when MIL cuts chicken at our house bc she wants to use our wood cutting boards!
nectarine / 2878 posts
We use one a lot for highchairs and shopping carts but mainly for comfort, I don't mind the germs too much.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@regberadaisy: LOL! I probably should be more worried about salmonella and e.coli than I am, I'm sure!
