My 2.5 yr old daughter enjoys wearing dresses. What kind of shorts do you recommend? She's currently in diapers, but I hope to potty train in the fall.

DD wears basic bike shorts. We have some from target (cat and jack), old navy, and kohls (jumping beans). All seem pretty equal. We buy black, navy, and white - those seem to match everything we need them to.

We like these from Primary because they are short enough to not show beneath the dress - https://www.primary.com/shop/kids/shorts/the-under-short?color=raspberry&ref=plp_pdp_2&size=2-3

Target and carters. Black, white, navy, grey and pink.
Always use the bike shorts. This is one of my pet peeves. Seeing diapers or underwear under dresses. I hate that bloomers stop coming with outfits after 12m size.

I second @HappyBaker: we love Primary’s under shorts! We can get at least 2 years of wear out of them before they grow out of them, but they’re still in great shape to hand down.

@HappyBaker: Agreed. Our primary ones look so much better than our target and old navy ones after some wear. They've held their color much better and haven't piled at all, unlike the Target and Old Navy ones. My second daughter is wearing Primary hand-me-downs.

Same as many of the above posters: Target, Old Navy, Carter's are typically what I pick up and all of these tend to last for a long time thanks to the stretch. I don't mind a little fading since they're not meant to be seen much.
We require LO to wear "shorties" under skirts and dresses if we are leaving the house, but not if we're just hanging at home. We have a good stock of black, white, navy, gray, and pink. As well as a handful of prints that have come with multi-packs.

Same, my girls wear bike shorts underneath their dresses. I buy most of them at Children's Place, some at Target. They prefer them to their bermuda shorts, "much softer" they say

Second everyone else that primary is the best - we've tried several brands. J Crew factory are good too, but I think Primary are cheaper at regular price at least. They knock off $1/piece if you buy 3+ and your first order is 15% off FYI.

I'll chime in for Primary as well. Especially since I have 2 girls and looking at the first set of Old Navy ones I bought they look really worn and grimey compared to the excellent in shape ones that my oldest is wearing from Primary for a second year now.
