I had always heard that antibiotics can mess with your BC pills and I was on a ten day course of Augmentin for a sinus infection earlier this month. CD 1 was 8/9 i started taking my next pack of pills on 8/13 then I took my pill about 18 hours late on 8/16. Last dose of the antibiotics was on 8/17. We definitely haven't used a back up method, would a pregnancy even be possible?

My friend got pregnant that way. I'd say it's definitely possible.

based on CD14 ovulation i would ovulate lets say tomorrow right? or does that not matter when you're on BC and antibiotics?

Yup - I'd be worried. Though I've taken antibiotics on birth control and never got pregnant.

@Chillybear: Its possible but if you haven't ovulated yet, it would be less likely. I would use back up for sure since the meds are still in your system

Newer research isn't showing a link between most antibiotics and decreased effectiveness of the pill - you're probably fine.

It should only be possible if you already ovulated while on BC. As long as you haven't had sex in the past couple of days, you should be ok.

@Chillybear: I think the possibility is very small, and like @ms.line: said its actually a smaller risk than they say- but better be safe than sorry! I personally would use back up until my next period for peace of mind but wouldn't worry too much until then.
