I should really title this post "please figure out my life for me" lol. I'm due in October with my first and trying to decide whether nanny or daycare would would best for us. Most of my friends don't have kids yet and my DH has a unique work situation so I need some advice from you very knowledgeable bees.

I will be going back to work when the baby is around 6 months. I will be working "part-time" but it will end up being 30 hours a week plus a commute so it will basically be full time (I'm an attorney at a big firm, I work a lot of hours but they don't care where or when as long as I get my work done.)

I had initially thought I wanted to do daycare because that seems to be the norm among most people I know in my city, I want the baby to be socialized early, and it's cheaper. My DH and mom are on team nanny because they don't like the idea of sending a small baby to daycare (doesn't faze me because so many people do it), it would be more convenient for us, we would also have nanny help clean the house, no constantly getting sick, etc. I think we can technically afford a nanny but it is definitely more expensive.

My concern is that my DH works freelance and his schedule is very unpredictable. He works on average 2 or 3 days a week but basically finds out/ decides to take a job on the morning of. On days that he doesn't work, he does lots of errand and other stuff that isn't exactly work but is necessary (he owns a few properties so those keep him busy too). It seems like a waste to pay for full time nanny or daycare when my DH may be home and available to watch the baby frequently. And I don't think we can hire a nanny part-time because the schedule is so unpredictable. I don't think DH would mind being home at the same time as nanny sometimes but it seems like a waste of money

Any thoughts? What would you do if you were me? Sorry if this is missing key any info, I am a little lost and brand new to this whole world (and maybe this is premature)...
