My husband got me a dyson stick for my bday. At one point I did want one but now we have a roomba so I’m not sure we need it? Plus with that much money I could get a bunch of other things I want 
so do I need this? Will I be missing out if I return it?

I am totally and completely obsessed with our dyson stick, and once we got it we never used our roomba anymore. I think it depends on your house setup and needs though - we have a multi-level townhome so I love the portability of the dyson stick. Plus with two toddlers, there's always a small mess somewhere that needs quick attention and I prefer the dyson for that too. But I agree on the price - there's definitely a lot of other things you could do with the money!

Keep it! We have both and I would give up the roomba in a second but never give up the Dyson !

I use mine under the kitchen table (and in toddler chair) all the time. I would think the roomba would not be great at that? (But i don’t have one so not sure)
I’ve also used it to pick up messes like spilled beads that seem impossible to pick up! -
I can't live without my dyson stick! I have a roomba too, I mainly let it roam up/downstairs but I use my dyson multiple times a day.

Perfect timing for a post, @gotkimchi! For those of you that have them, what kind do you have? Does the battery life bother you? I'm looking at getting one at Costco (or possibly waiting for a sale but need it by early May) and there's a $120 difference between the V7 animal and V8 total clean, the V8 is supposed to have better battery life but I'm not sure it's worth $120 at this point. Can anyone weigh in??

We don't have a roomba, but we do have a dyson stick. We have a V6. I love it- I use it almost every day, and I have never had it run out of battery. I never would have spent the money on it, but I'm so glad it was gifted to me. I use it around the kitchen daily, occasionally for the stairs, and take it up once every week or two to do the hardwood/tile upstairs. I will say, I don't use it on the basement- I have an upright for the carpet down there that I use.

@smocks: We have the V7 Absolute and I've never been bothered by the battery life.

@smocks: i have the v6 i think, the cheaper one. On max power the battery lasts long enough to do my whole kitchen and living room for sure. I never vacuum more than that at once! But it’s more a convenience to me than a true workhorse to do your whole house.

@gotkimchi: We have a Shark robotic vacuum (similar to Roomba) and while I love it for a quick tidy up when I don't have time to vacuum. I just don't think it is as thorough as our Dyson or our in house central vac when operated by a person. There's definitely a time and a place for both!

We have a roomba that I move back and forth between the main floor and the basement programmed to run every other day. I don't have a stick vac but I want one, I think it would make the stairs much easier than sweeping and cleaning up quick toddler messes or underneath my bird's cage because the legs are too close together for the roomba to fit.

I have a roomba which I like but want a stick vac. I think it would be great for cleaning under the table every meal

We got rid of our roomba after we got our stain. My husband got it for our anniversary (LoL) but I joke that it’s the best anniversary present he’s gotten me because he actually uses the vacuum.

I love my dyson stick. It is the single handedly the best cleaning product. We keep ours in the pantry and use it after every meal (messy 2year old) and keeps me sane bc it’s so quick and easy to use. We love it for our stairs and for our cars to do a quick vacuum.

I have the dyson v8 stick and I love it! We have a tiny 850 sqft house and I can vacuum the entire house and still have a charge left. I love how easy it is to switch from the carpet attachment to the hard floor attachment. My 6 year old even vacuums with it!

I think I have the v7 - does anyone know if there is a separate bare floor attachement? Mine only came with one head. Also, do you have to hold the trigger the whole time? It can’t just be “on”?

@gotkimchi: I'm not sure what model I have but I have a bare floor attachment that is plush on the whole roller and a carpet attachment that is a roller with bristles like most normal vacuums.
And yes, you have to hold it on.
