LO is 11 weeks and shows little to no interest in toys. The only exception is his playmat. Should I be concerned?

My LO had absolute no interest in toys until he was almost 4 months. Now he loves them

I wouldn't worry at that age. My LO's didn't start showing any interest until the 3-4 month mark.
Have you tried the mobile?

@Mrs. High Heels: I haven't. Lately he has been fascinated with ceiling fans and light fixtures, so maybe it's worth a try?

@rahlyrah: That's the first toy both my kids got into. They LOVED the mobile and it was so easy to keep them preoccupied with it on with its bright toys and happy music.
Eta: Other toys require a more advanced skill set, like the ability to grasp at things, but the mobile just requires them to lay on their back, watch, and coo away.

My daughter didn't show any true interest in toys until 3 months. I remember b/c it was right after I went back to work. I came home one day to her clearly trying to lift her arm and bat at a toy hanging over her carseat. It takes them quite a while to actually play with toys in the way you're probably used to thinking of it.

DS has never been that interested in toys at any age and he's 2.5. I mean, he'll play with something for a few minutes and then move on. When he was your sons age we mostly played with toys for him and he was honestly more interested in crumpling paper or playing with keys or other non toys.

@rahlyrah: I second the mobile. E looooooves his mobile. It's the cutest dang thing watching him "chat" with his BFF lion. And we also bought him a kicky piano for the end of his co-sleeper.
(ETA: He's three months, day after tomorrow, and hasn't shown much interest in batting at toys either.)

DS didn't show interest until about 3.5 months. He did like to watch the mobile in his swing before that or look at the toys on his play mat.

E didn't have interest until maybe 6 months. Even then, we would force them.
Now at 10m, he goes crazy when we bring out the toy box and we don't even have to explain anything; he explores on his own an figures out how to turn them on and all that.

@rahlyrah: my LO discovered fans and lights at that age and also loved her playmat! Now at 14 weeks she is still mostly a playmat girl...

I'm def gonna try a mobile then. Thanks ladies!
We have a light fixture in our living room that kind of looks like a boob. B LOVES it. He will spend 20-30 mins babbling and smiling at it. We just assumed he thought it was boob! Lol. We never even thought that he might be ready for a mobile.

P was not interested at all in toys until around 6 months. Even now at 13 months she's not that into toys. I painted a couple of black and white contrast pics on small canvasses that she loved though, apparently they like high contrast things at those young ages!
