I've noticed that there aren't many (any?) dads on the Hellobee boards. 
There are a number of parenting boards with dads on them... but they seem to be boards targeted exclusively at dads.
Should we create a separate set of boards for dads? Or should we just have one set of boards where all are welcome, but in reality only women join?

Mr jacks is a member, but participates rarely. He's already part of a community exclusively for dads. He says he might participate if there was a dads board here. His reason is that there would be less irrelevant information to wade through. He says he has no patience for extraneous information.

@mrbee: I wonder if I could get DH on board. He's not a writer kind of guy. Too bad! I would love to get him on but at the moment, it would have to be called Fantasy Footdad Baby Ball Board.

I just asked DH if he'd want man bees, he says, 'hell yea. It'd be cool to have some guys to talk to about kid stuff once we have one. We'd be like cyber couple friends!'

Just kidding. I think more dad's would join if there were Dad boards, my DH probably would.

Just to clarify... any "dad boards" wouldn't appear here on the main boards. They'd be on a separate set of boards, hosted at a Dads tab or something.

@mrbee: Makes sense to have a separate tab--so even if it is less active, the dad posts are always on top when the dads sign in.

What do we do if we add dad boards, and then a bunch of our female members start commenting on the posts... is that a good thing? A bad thing?
Just trying to think this through ahead of adding anything!

@mrbee: I think it's a great idea and I like the idea of a separate tab. I'm not sure about how it would work with us wanting to comment as well.... I know for sure I'd be reading their boards though!!
My husband is always talking about hellobee with me and I am always telling him stories. I just asked dh and he said he'd join. I think it would be great for him since he doesn't really know any other guys with kids.

Are you thinking of a separate board altogether? I think it might be a good idea, men can be kind of private if they have issues around pregnancy, birth and parenting, so having a place for them to go and discuss things is always a good idea.
I think my husband would be up for it if it was separate from these boards.

@mrbee: I think it would be better if the females didn't comment on the guy's stuff. Reading would be ok bc I am pretty sure we would all find a way to view it somehow, especially if it was named Dad's Secret Bee.
Btw, I let my husband read the first few posts of this thread just to see what he thought and when he got to my first post, he said She is right......oh, is that you!!?? (He never directly tells me I am right about anything.)

DH wouldn't do a dad board... I think he's just not interested in DISCUSSING this kind of stuff. Sometimes he has questions about stuff and wants answers, but he wants them to be vetted, for lack of a better way of putting it. If we're trying to make a decision on, say, whether or not to CIO, he doesn't really get why I like hearing other parents' experiences and tips and such- he wants to know if there's any peer-reviewed data on the subject. And if he does want tips or suggestions, he'd much rather find people he knows and trusts IRL and ask them.
Also, he HATES hypothetical questions, so he'd go nuts with all of those on the boards

I think it is a good idea for some dads but my DH would not be interested in it at all! He would rather talk to people like his coworkers, Mom, or friends with kids.

I think it would be great and us females should probably stay out of it. DH would never join, though. He will stick to his video games.

I asked DH if he would be interested, he said "No" very promptly. He said there are only 4 websites that he goes on. ESPN, FoxSports, FoxNews, and Yahoo.
He's not a talking, dicussing type though..

From what I can tell, the core users of dad message boards tend to be SAH dads and WAH dads... so any dad-centric boards would be targeted at those audiences.
From what I've seen so far, a lot of SAH/WAH dads crave info and community about parenting (just like moms do). It's just that they tend to hang out on separate sites...
