Lo is 17 months. She had her first week of daycare last week and this weekend she got sick. She is home today. Her fever has been ranging from 100-103. Runny nose, a little cough and cranky! Take her in? let it run its course? We've been giving her motrin to help the fever. Shes only been sick one other time, so I'm thinking her immune system is pretty weak and daycare was a shock to it.

it's so hard but let it run its course. most pedi's have a fever sheet where the major concern is 104 or higher rectally.
i'd re-evaluate after a week. try baby vicks on chest and feet and cover with socks, bulb the nose and a saline or decongestant spray and invest in some boogie wipes.
having a sick baby is the worst!

Take her in! My Ped recommended a visit anytime fever (101 and up) was involved with cough/runny nose, etc. If anything, it will make you feel better!

If the fever is over 101, especially with medicine I would take her in.
Usually if the fever is below 101 with medicine, I let it run its course for about 24-36 hours.

I wouldn't run right to the dr. Antibiotics aren't always a good thing. And if the fever is controlled by motrin leave it be.

I just went through this, but my LO is only 5 months old. We took her to the ER when her fever went to 103 rectal in the middle of the night. We gave her Tylenol and it was down while we were there so they did nothing.
We took her to her ped on that Monday an they swabbed for flu and rsv, both negative. So all we could do is wait it out and alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol since she showed no other signs that it was bacterial (clear ears, clear throat)
