Okay this is a bit silly. We're having a family reunion with my mother's side of the family, and one of my cousins is designing tshirts.

Let's say that my grandmother's maiden name was Jones. When she got married, she married a Smith and changed her name to Smith. Also, there's another side of her family with the last name Pickle, which doesn't have much bearing on this question; mostly because I don't know how the Pickle line is connected to me. But anyhoo...

So my mother used to be a Smith. When she got married she changed her last name to my dad's. I of course have never been a Smith. I've also gotten married, so now I have different last name altogether.

The cousin in question's dad (my Uncle) was my grandmother's son, so his last name is Smith and my cousin's last name is Smith.

The tshirts she designed say Jones - Smith - Pickle family reunion 2014.

Am I a Smith by default? I kind of feel like the shirts shouldn't specify since there are so many family members involved, and just say "Family Reunion 2014". But maybe I'm being too sensitive?
