See Kai run is having some nice sales... Is it silly to buy shoes in advance? T is only a month and I probably won't put her in shoes much (or at all) until fall when she is 5 or 6 months. So I'd be buying based on their size chart. Was looking at getting maybe a pair of 3s and a pair of 4s?

I wouldn't until she is closer to actually wearing them. You don't know what size she'll start off in therefore no way of knowing what size to buy for the right season. They have those sales frequently!

It's not silly, I did it, but it's one of those things that I found to be pointless.
I had to have a few pairs of those smaller shoes, and they were a pain to put on and didn't even fit his feet nicely. I only buy a pair or two in each size and only when he needs them now, because it's so important that they fit correctly.

@regberadaisy: oh, I'm glad you mentioned that they frequently have sales. I love their shoes, but will definitely wait then!
@looch: yeah, I think I'll wait. I'm not sure what to do for footwear because we live in a cold climate. I figured we'd be fine without warm footwear because she was a spring babe, but the high onsunday is 50 degrees! Thank goodness for the one pair of fleece zutano boo ties someone gave us!

If you do, I would totally buy a size up from what you think you need. I'm sooo sad I have two pairs of TOMS for him and they're no good to us. booo

We have some shoes but some were gifted and another pair we got to announce she was a girl!

@Silva: I've totally bought K shoes and saving them for when she's older. I always ask moms when their LOs started walking what size they wore and it seems to be 4-5 mostly. So I will only buy size 5 and up! She's already got 2 pairs of Tiny Toms, a pair of Hunter wellies, and a pair of really cute Zara motorcycle boots.
@rachiecakes: What size did he wear when he started walking?

I don't think it's silly at all . . . as long as the purchases are made with the understanding that you may fly right by the time that the items fit and that you may not end up using the items (I have done this for several things I bought early for LO).
ETA: The first pair of shoes we purchased for LO were size 4s.

I might get one pair - but make them versatile or go bigger.
My son grew out of shoes before he was waering shoes. he had 1's and 2's but I didn't really put them on him when his feet were that little
I also didn't really put shoes on him regularly until around 9 months. At 1 year, he's in size 3's. He'll probably be in 4's soon.

Hmm... I've already bought her absurd amounts of clothes in larger sizes...will probably wait for a bit. She'll need something to keep her feet warm this fall, but I'll keep my eyes open for more of these sales. So cute!

@Silva: I wouldnt buy shoes in advance. People bought my LO shoes in advance and some of them she never got to wore even once because by the time she was walking the shoes were way too small or the wrong season

I hit a Stride Rite going out of business sale where every shoe was $10 and I nabbed 9 pairs. haha! But I did practical shoes (walkers or sneakers) and one in each half size starting at 4. I figured once she starts walking she'll need sneakers no matter what - even in summer. So if I found an incredible deal on a practical shoe, yeah, I'd buy ahead. If it's just a sale then I'd probably wait.

My LO has freakishly large feet. I didn't have her wear shoes until she started walking so any shoes we had (all gifts and hand me downs) went to waste.

@rachiecakes: what size did you buy for your LO? Would you consider selling them if you haven't already?
I will say this...sizing baby shoes is HARD so I wouldn't buy in advance. My LO is 15 months and is itty bitty feet. He still has room in size 4s (which is considered infant size!). I cannot find walking shoes for him to try on in stores because most start at size 5!
