Since I won't be able to have a shower, several people have mentioned that they'd like to have a Sip & See for us when we bring the baby to the States to meet all our friends there. We aren't sure when we'll be able to make the trip, but hopefully before the baby is 6 months old.
Has anyone had a Sip & See?
Was it like a shower, except the baby was there?
Would it be weird if the baby is closer to a year old than a newborn?

I've never had one, but if I were invited to one, I'd not care what age the baby was, I'd just be honored to have been invited!
I think it's a great idea, honestly. If I could do it all over again, I would have had one during our first visit to the US, but I didn't get my act together enough to think about it.

I've never been to one, but love the idea!! I say go for it regardless of how old your baby will be :o) Everyone will be happy to see you and the baby!

I've also never heard of this but it sounds like a great idea that I think I'll do. Mine will be un-shower like, as I feel like I'm having too many showers, so I'll ask for please no presents. Mine would be closer to birth, but since you are travelling far, it would totally make sense to do it whenever you are there for the first time.

I've never heard of this but if I were invited to one, I wouldn't care how old the little tyke was! I would treat it as a shower (ie. bring a gift).

I'd rather have my baby a little older if I were doing that because I wouldn't want all those germs around my newborn. That will be nice to have everyone in one place, and easier for you!

I've had three friends do this! One just adopted and the other two were sisters that delivered within two weeks of each other and it was winter and snowing when they were born. They both were born in February and they had the sip and see in May.
