I just realized that our LO has been in size 4 diapers since he was like 10 or 11 months, so one and a half years! What?? I know 4 and 5 overlap somewhat, so we could switch to 5s, but we have no issues with fit or leaks, so we stick with 4s. He grew out of the other sizes so quickly. Has this happened with your kids? What size diaper did you stay in the longest? He's 28 months, 36" tall, and just shy of 32 lbs, so he's tall and on the skinny side.

So funny - my son flew through size 4! My daughter (they are twins) can still fit in 4s, but we moved her to 5s because it's easier if they are wearing the same size. They wore 3s for a long time - over 6 months I think!

Yep, we've been in size 4s FOREVER! Over a year at least! I have a whole box of size 5s that I don't think we'll ever use because we're not potty training!!

We've been in size 4s for almost a year! I sized up to 5s for nighttime a month or so ago. We only lasted a month in size 3s though. My son is also on the tall & lean side and went into size 4s before he hit the "minimum" weight, but we kept having blowouts in the 3s.

My older DD is out of diapers, but starting about 8 months ago, when she was 2.5ish and DD2 was about 9 months, both could comfortably wear size 4. DD2 is still size 4, and if DD1 were to wear a diaper at night rather than a pull up, I'd definitely put her in a size 4 still (at nearly 3.5!)

We never went to size 5. We went to pull ups which are weird sizing 2T-3T and now 3T-4T for potty training, right after size 4.
My LO is a skinny mini though. He was 35 inches and 31 pounds at his 3 year appointment.

@Jadj13: Funny - size 3's were also pretty useless for us. I moved DD2 into 4's way before the weight recommendation just because the 3's weren't cutting it!

My 2.5 year old still wears a size 4 diaper at night!

My almost 3 year old wore 3s from 7 months to 2.5, when he potty trained. My 4 month old is already in 3s.

We've been in size 4s for a while too. DD is almost 1.5. We hardly used any 2s. She's only 25 lbs, but the 4s are kind of snug. But I think the weight limit is supposed to go up to 30+, so Im not sure why it's so tight.

Yep, DS is 2 and has been in size 4 forever. The size we used the least amount of time was definitely size 2.
He's around 26 pounds and 35 inches.

This is crazy to me. My 13 month old has been in size 5's for months.

My LO was in size 3s for an entire year! He could have stayed longer but they were getting a little snug so we just switched to 4s! He's tall and skinny, so I imagine he'll be in 4s until we potty train!

Update!
We just switched to size 5 diapers this week, at almost 33 months old! He started tugging at the diaper and saying it was tight so we knew it was time. I was down to one box of size 4s, and got to exchange them for 5s, so I think the timing worked out well!

DH has had trouble keeping the right kid in the right diaper. So I know my 3 year old can fit in 3's (typically wear's 5's overnight) and my baby could wear a 5 at five months.

@DesertDreams88: Something's wrong with that table. They say 4's go up to 37 pounds, but 5's are 27+ And 6's are 35+. I don't remember the range but 4's definitely don't overlap with 2 sizes. They probably go to 30ish pounds. 8 months also seems really long to me for that size.
ETA, never mind the chart is right! But I can't imagine a 37# kid in 4's. DS is 32#s and in size 6.

DD is a little over 2.5, about 30lbs and has been in size 4 forever! She is almost potty trained (no diapers for nap all week!!), so I don't think we are going to have to move up to size 5.

Same. I don't remember when we put LO in size 4 but I think it had to be around 10 mo or so. She's 21 mo and still in them with plenty of room.

Ummm my DS was in size 4s from 4 months (!!!) until we potty trained at 2.5 years... so 2 years and 2 months in the same size

Also, I think that table isn't very accurate for the time spent in diapers and the cost either. It adds up to 42 months... so that's 3 1/2 years... seems sort of late based on average potty training?!?
Must be from a cloth diaper website...??

We did a mix of gDiapers and disposable but DD was in medium gDiapers from 3 months until 25 months when we stopped using them. She is almost 27 months and has been in size 4 disposables since at least 10 months. She's average to small as far as height and weight go.

We were in size 4's forever! She never graduated to 5's. Size 4 were from 12-28 months.

34 lb at 2 1/2 and we have been in 6's for about 6 months so far. Possibly more. It feels like it's been a year in 6's.... It might be close to it. But my kid had thick thighs and a butt.

@QBbride: I'm not sure about averages, but we're at almost 3 years old and no sign of potty training so we very well might make it to 3.5! Maybe that includes residual use, like for sleeping, travel, etc.

But wow on 8 changes a day in that table! Do people really change their kids this often? We need like 4 diapers a day over here at 13 months.
I can't say to much about the American sizes as the European sizes are different.

@Pumuckl: yeah we've been on 5-6 diapers, give or take one, for a long time. Maybe that is a cloth diaper chart, because 8 a day seems like a lot.
