Does anyone have any experience with sleep training a baby after he/she is able to turn? My LO can now turn from back to tummy. As soon as you put her to her back, she flips over. But she is unable to turn the other way and gets upset that she is stuck. This is the case when we put her to sleep as well. Do I just keep going in and flipping her over until she falls asleep? Should I wait until she can turn the other way before sleep training?

This may not be popular opinion but if my son turned himself over when getting worked up, we allowed him to stay that way. As long as we always put him down on his back, he was allowed to sleep the way he wants. We didn't sleep train until after 6 months old.
ETA: My son ended up liking sleeping on his side when he is sick or not feeling well and during the initial stages of sleep training.

@pelikila: she gets extra upset when she finds herself on her tummy and I'm reluctant to let her just cry faced down. Does your son cry when he flipped himself over when you were sleep training?

Oh my gosh. This brings back memoriesss. My LO would flip onto her belly when she first learned and would wake herself up! It was the cutest thing seeing her head up on her belly, but a little frustrating too.
I would go into her room, flip her onto her back and feed her some boob to get her to knock out. (LO sleeps on a mattress on the floor so I just lie next to her and nurse her to sleep).
Eventually she got used to flipping onto her tummy and would fall back asleep on her own. -
@BoogieBea: Yes, he still cried during sleep training even after he turned onto his side or back but my husband stayed with him and would pat his back and be with him the whole time so we knew he was okay. The reason we were comfortable leaving him that way instead of putting him back on his back was because by 6 months old he could lift his head really well and wasn't going to just be face down and unable to move his head and one of us was in the room with him the whole time so if he got himself into a bind, we could step in and help him.
