Yes, I put him back in the crib to CIO. Sometimes he falls back asleep within minutes, other times it takes a lot longer. :(. Those nights aren't fun. However, those are few and far between.
For reference, we have been sleep/nap training him for about two weeks so far. He's 6.5 months.

we put charlie back to cio after the one night feeding we decided to keep, but he didn't cry. he dropped the feeding on his own shortly thereafter, but he was taking bottles then.

olive cried one minute at the most and went back to sleep after night feedings. so i wasn't on planning on it, but i ended up night weaning while sleep training since she wasn't crying.

but yes you put them back in the crib to cio. your lo might not sttn unless night weaned though, so depending on how sleep training is going, you may want to night wean as well.

@mamajaja: there is no one right way to decide whether or not to night wean. rubies for instance kept night feedings, and her lo dropped them on her own around 10 months?

with olive, i knew she wouldn't night wean by herself (because she hadn't at almost 14 months and she's a nursing addict).

the 4am wake up is really tough though for all babies. that's when they naturally have a shift in their sleep cycle, and many babies wake up at that time.

if you are ok with keeping one night feeding, i think that's ok. i actually kept 2 night feedings when sleep training olive because she was coming off 5+ wakings after being sick for over 2 months. but she very easily dropped the wakings on her own when i let her cry for a couple minutes for 2 days.

it is really what you are most comfortable with since you know your baby best. if she was sleeping through the night before, you know she can do it again. if that's the case, i would try to sttn!
