Soooo, we ferberized O baby about 1 month ago. It worked. We have been able to put her down, awake, in her crib, and she has been falling asleep on her own since around day 5-ish, no tears. It usually takes around 15-20 minutes for her to fall asleep, and she usually just rolls around, babbles, etc. Last night, she started crying after around 10 minutes in the crib. She continued to cry for 30 minutes! off and on. We did the 10 minute checks, but she continued to cry. I thought something might be wrong because her cries were pretty hysterical, so we took her out of the crib, changed her diaper (which only had a little pee), read her a couple stories, and then tried the crib again. Nothing was wrong, she was all smiles once she realized bedtime was on hold. It then took her another 20 minutes of crying to fall asleep for good. So, I thought, just a bad night. But NOOOO. Tonight she cried for 40 minutes off and on. It wasn't as hysterical as last night, and she would stop, but then start up again. Wtf. We have been keeping the same awake time as usual with the same bedtime give or take 30 minutes. Has anyone seen a regression like this happen? I am sure it does, but only 1 month after sleep training? It was hard enough to hear her cry the first time and having to do it all over again is so, so hard. It's so sad and makes me feel like the sleep training isn't working (even though it did work, but now seems to be failing)? She is just a couple days short of 6 months old, by the way. Her usual awake time between naps is roughly 2 hours and we usually have her in the crib around the 2 hour-2 hour and 15 minute mark for bedtime, which has been working great, until now. Her naps have been sucking, but they have never been the greatest. Help.
I think there is a 6 mo sleep regression (4, 6, 9, 18... I think?) so maybe that? But I dunno. As usual I'll just say.. babies man.
I think the sleep training is still "working," considering how far you've still come from where you originally started..... but I think setbacks are probably to be expected now and then? At least that's what I tell myself! Our LO was doing so well at night, not even a peep and just falling asleep. Me and DH would high-five each other and remark how awesome our LO was. Now.... he's still a good sleeper at night overall, but he's gone back to fussing/crying every night, for 5-20 minutes. It totally sucks!!! Makes me wonder why, and what did we do wrong/what didn't we do/did I eat something wrong/etc etc etc. But I try to tell myself, nope! It's just him. Haha. Hang in there!
