One of the two manufacturers of cochlear implants we're looking at has the option to wear processors on the back which a lot of parents of toddlers like, and I've seen recommendations to sew little pockets onto undershirts. Since J will have just turned 1 when he gets his CIs this summer I was thinking of doing sleeveless onesies under t-shirts...do you think this will get too hot outside?

Depends where you live. I'm in Texas and I would say probably yeah. But I wear undershirts all the time (and I put LO in them also) when we aren't planning on being outside a lot. He doesn't seem any hotter if we're indoors.

That would have been too hot for mine. Can you do pockets in solid color tees, so he won't need an undershirt? Or just sleeved onsies, that he can wear as an outer layer?

I think it depends on if you spend a lot of time outside. If you do then for a couple weeks this summer it could be too much but if you spend most of your time inside I would say he will be fine.

I'm in Ohio and for 80% of summer it would not be too hot. We get a couple weeks where it's super hot but we don't really spend a lot of time out doors then.

I always put lo in a sleeveless onesie under her clothes in the summer. She runs hot and I still don't think she was uncomfortable.

We always put K on either a onesie or an undershirt. DH is Malaysian and thinks having an undershirt is better even when it's super hot... So, I vote he'll be fine! I'll keep D in a onesie under his clothes to keep his g tube hidden away, even in the summer.

I didn't use undershirts in the summer, but I don't think it would be too big of a deal. Most of the time we were in air conditioning.
As an alternative, can you put the pocket on the outer shirt?

Maybe I'll just clip them to his shirts to start with and then do the pockets if it seems really necessary. It seems like the newest model is really lightweight so they shouldn't weigh down the back of his neckline too much!

I feel like you could sew a little cover for them-with Velcro or a snap or a button-that would be attachable to every outfit!

LO pretty much always wears an undershirt. That was if she sweats, it sweats on the undershirt and not her real outfit. DH is the same way--he actually comments that e finds it disgusting that a lot of people at his job don't wear undershirts, so when they lift their arms in summer their shirt armpits are wet and gross.
Obviously with babies it's different, but most undershirts are very thin.

So where I grew up, summers were long and hot and all the guys wore under shirts. Here, it's much cooler and no one does. DH thinks the idea is absurd to wear another shoe under his tshirt if it's hot out!
Anyway, depending on the temp/humidity, two cotton shirts seems like a lot. But a cotton shirt and a woven shirt doesn't. Like those button up little man shirts. They would be much cooler than another onesie! And adorable!
