I've been wearing panty liners for several weeks now because of the lovely increase in discharge. Yesterday when I was changing it, I noticed there was a slight bleachy smell. Is that normal? I haven't noticed it before.

I don't use pantiliners normally because they always end up smelling...vinegar-ey? You may need to change more often, or quit using them so your crotch can breathe!

@tororojo: I change them quite a bit. If I didn't use them, I'd have to change my undies multiple times a day! It's definitely not a vinegar smell though.

Maybe it's the chemicals in the liners? You could try another brand and see if you have the same problem...I don't know. Good luck!

A lot of feminine products have chlorine bleach in them. Seventh Generation makes theirs chlorine-free.

Wearing pantyliners could also be causing the problem. They really advise not wearing them every day; they can actually cause you to make MORE vaginal discharge to compensate. Because they aren't as breathable as cotton undies.

Oh so TMI - but naturally my discharge has a bleachy smell, and it actually bleaches out spots on the cotton lining of my underwear. It sucks, but my gyn told me that is normal for some people.

Thanks ladies. I have my 34 week appt this week, so I'm gonna ask the doctor just in case. This is something totally new, so I wanna be sure everything is ok!
